299 for eagle H beams, 399 for Crower. I got the eagle's because they have a better rep with the evo guys.

JE dont make a piston for our car. you would have to call them and get them custom made. big money. Go with RRM if you want a good piston, or wiseco if you want a cheap piston. I know they are "good" but in alot of honda's around my area, they have a noisy motor, they claim its there wiseco pistons. so im staying away. I'm ordering RRM pistons monday. good company.

like I said, my tuner can design some.. but some of it does depend on pricing...thanks though.

reviving a very old topic... my apologies...

so having said that the evo rods are .50' (1.27mm) shallower than the 4g69 rods and that we need to look at getting taller pistons which pistons are suitable, looking at the wiseco list we can in fact use stroker pistons that have the same bore suitable for the 2.3lt engine will this be enough to bring the height up.

Or do we just get the oversize pistons 87mm and this will drop the compression down to ???? which will allow more boost to go thru the engine

my plan is to use evo rods and wiseco pistons and end up with a compression of 9.5 but what pistons do i get/need

Wiseco have a list of various combinations
4G64 bottem with a 4G63 head = 2.3lt
there is also a 4G63 with a over size piston available @87mm
or 4G69 piston which has a compression of 9.00

very confusing

Wiesco can make a set of pistons for the 4g69 with the compression ratio ranging from 8.5-10.5 .
They maybe able to make an even wider range of pistons. The Evo rods and 4g69 wiesco pistons work , they have been what the top 4g69er tuners have been using. The fastest Ralliart to date had forged Evo rods , he was at 500+ whp and it was the LSD that they had problems with, the motor was strong.

Ok after many more hours of reading what suppliers have got in stock and comparing supplier facts and figures on engine internals (bottem end) combinations it looks like that the 4G64(2.3lt) bottem end with a 4G63 head is the answer as this combination is very very close to what we are needing and what will work
they have a 100mm crank/stroke (same as the 4G69) the rods used are 150mm long same as ours and the 4G63T
as long as you get the 7 bolt you will be fine as the wrist pins are 22mm
not sure what the compression is going to be but it will be somewhere in the high 8's and low 9's using a standard head gasket. part number for the Wiesco piston is K548M87...

this is what I am going to order rand just hope for the best I know it is a risk that it may not work but I will be buggered if I am going to pay the $800 that is being asked by another company for then to compare the parts and see if it will work - especially if they are saying they are experts - this car has been around long enough for companies to compare parts to see what works and what does not.
i am now just looking for a place that sells them cheap enough and ship to australia.
i will keep you all informed with my build there will be no secrets kept.

hey buddy no I dont think you are off topic when talking about matching up pistons with rods especially when AM parts are involved

yeah I got those numbers as well as they are a direct fitment for the 4G69, the number I quoted is for a 4G64 bottem end and a 4G63 head

the 4G64 bottem end has a crank that is 100mm, bore is 87mm, wrist pin is 22mm and rod length is 150mm. with a dish of -17 and compression will be about 9 - 9.3

I think that there will be no issues with using these pistons if there is no other option in regards to pricing and availability

not sure why there is a difference in part numbers tho I think before ordering that you ask the question as to what is the differences

I am having problems in getting in touch with a few suppliers over in the U.S about pistons but I will continue to pursue it...

yeah i have a full list of questions that i am going to ask. i believe that i am going to go with manley rods with arp hard wear. now they say that these pistons dont come with rings. but they sell ring kits on their site. with that i am also unsure of. here is the info that they has for the rings. the rings are from ross racing piston rings..

1.2mm Ductile Moly Top
1.5mm Cast Second
2.8mm Stainless Expander
Three Piece Circumferential
Price $22.00 per/cylinder

anyone know if an SRT-4 piston would mate with a 4G63 rod? the bore should fit...i'm looking into this route myself, but the pistons are hard to come by used, and i'm not about to buy an aftermarket set and find they don't work when i could just get pistons i know work for around the same price, lol...

Have you thought about having the block decked and take the difference off the top.

THIS. That's a great answer. As far as I know lol. Deck the block and then you can still use Evo rods and non-custom pistons. The price may be the same but at least you won't necessarily have "custom" pistons. I'm working on my Evo build now, but am planning a Ralliart turbo build as well. Should be fun!
