Did you have a new gasket made, or was the original modified?

I haven't seen mine since the shop ported it, so I'm not sure how much it's been opened up. The guy said he didn't do anything too drastic, just hit some spots where flow would be restricted...

I'm pretty stoked to get my RA put back together, I'm hoping to feel some decent gains from the new mods, but after driving a 2004 Ford Focus for the last year or so it'll probably feel like I'm driving a laser guided missile, lol.

Another quick update... got the wires ran and tucked to the rear light bar. The only things left to do now are to finish running the wires for the front strobes, wire up the siren box, and mount the speaker.
The front strobe wires are being a major PITA... I'm routing them through where the main wiring harness goes through the firewall. If anyone has any suggestions as to an easier way to run them inside the car please let me know...

I got 2 oem gaskets and the thermal spacer , made a gasket sandwich, (gasket/spacer/gasket) then they bolted them to the head and matched them to the head

Yeah the gains are there nothing astronomical but much better than a ford focus....

Ok, got another update...
Got the wire runs completed for the 4 front strobes. It was kind of time consuming tucking and zip tying everything but it looks pretty nice. Also ran the power wires for the strobe unit, siren box, and the main power wire for the switch panel.
Now all that is left for the emergency gear installation is:

Then all that is left is the assembly of the top end of the engine. I should have the head back within a week, I was able to source a keeper to replace the one I lost when I removed the valves.
So hopefully I'll have everything up and going within the next couple weeks. I can't wait! more pics and updates to come.

Good stuff man. I'm excited to seethe lights in action. You'll have to post up a video.

On a side note I have some strobes for sale. Check out the interior/exterior for sale forum and let me know if you're interested!

Hey arxylis, before you put the cam , head ,ect. in put the #10 stainless steel washers on the bottom of each valve spring to cut down on the cam noise. It's ALOT easier now than later when it's on the car

Yeah, I was reading about that in the Delta thread... Thanks for reminding me though, I need to get a hold of the shop and have them put some in.

Got a couple things completed off my todo list...

All the wiring except for the speaker has been completed! It was a pain getting everything tucked away and zip tied so that it looks good. Only 2 wires left to connect for the speaker and I'll be done with the install for the emergency equipment. Here's a few pics, I'll post up a video as soon as YouTube starts working right again.

Here's all the wires that are tucked inside the console area...

Wow that's definitely something different. It looks cool just be sure not to use them unless your parked and at a show, cops will be on you like white on rice , on a paper plate, and a glass of milk in a snowstorm for impersonating an officer. Be careful

In Indiana Firefighters are allowed by law to use blue lights and strobes for use in their personal vehicle while en route to an emergency call.

          This is from IC 36-8-12-11:

Lights may be used while en route to scenes of emergencies or to the fire station.
A light is only required to have a source of at least 35 watts.

Lights may be placed on the (i) top of the vehicle, (ii) the dashboard inside, shielded to prevent distracting the driver OR (iii) front of the vehicle upon the bumper or at bumper level.

No more than 4 light assemblies may be displayed on 1 vehicle and each assembly must be of the flashing or revolving type.

A blue light assembly may contain multiple bulbs.

Alternately flashing head lamps may be used as a supplemental warning device.

Strobe lights or flashers may be installed into the light fixtures on the vehicle other than the alternating head lamps. The strobe lights or flashers may be either white or blue, with the exception of red to the rear.

I've got a card from the Indiana Volunteer Firefighter's Association with my name, IVFA #, and department. On the back it states that I am authorized to have and use blue lights in accordance with IC 36-8-12-11, and is signed by the Fire Chief.

Also I'm putting IVFA license plates on it as well. That way there should be no question as to why I have the lights.

Good to see you're on top of the local laws. It's always a good thing to do your homework before you invest

Most states have laws for the use of emergency lights and/or sirens for Firefighters and EMT's.

One thing is for sure though: Nothing beats the adrenaline rush you get from running into a burning building... The only thing close might be driving a Ralliart to it's limits

Just remember, Firemen find 'em hot and leave 'em wet...
