Got the head back yesterday! Like the shop said, noting too major as far as the porting goes... but with a little better flow and the Delta cam hiding inside I should feel a bit on the butt dyno.

Still got a little cleaning up to do around where the gaskets go... Then its on to assembly!

I decided to go ahead and paint my valve cover. Mainly because I had some scratches and scuffs on it, and also so it will more closely match the IM/spark plug shroud. Here's a couple pics. It's not super pretty, but definitely looks better than before. Sorry for the bad quality, I was taking them with my phone...

I'm contemplating what to do with the Mitsu and Mivec emblems. I'll probably sand the paint off them and go with the brushed aluminum look.

I went ahead and cleaned up the logos on the valve cover... looks decent:

Cost me a grand total of like 6 bucks for some high temp spray paint and sandpaper... Works for me!

Got a few more things accomplished today... Put the new water pump in, removed the old balance shaft belt, pulleys, and tensioner. Also got the intake mani and head bolted together and I'm just about ready to bolt the head back on. Here's a few pics:

I've heard good and bad reviews on the Delta cam. Personally, I've always been a "try it and see" kind of person, so I'm gonna try it and see how it does. Worse case scenario my motor blows up and I'll be right back to where I was a couple weeks ago.

Hopefully though, I don't have any issues with it because I really would love to have my car back on the road in the next week or two...

I am the same way as well(to an extent). If you read the Power loss after 5800RPM thread I compared the Delta cam with the OEM one and on mine, Delta didn't touch the intake lobes, the Mivec lobes they took off 2mm and on the exhaust one 1mm. Since you still have it out measure the Delta cam and you'll see if it's good or not.

Well the cam isn't out any more... The head is fully assembled and about to be bolted to the block. But, I do recall that it looked like only two sets of lobes were reground when looking at the cam.

Got the head bolted on, and got the header bolted to it. Also hooked up most of the vacuum and coolant hoses as well. I need to replace the o-rings and such for the injectors and mount the fuel rail in place, as well as tie up a few loose ends... Then it'll be on to the timing side of the motor for all that fun stuff.

Right now I have the 1 and 4 pistons at around TDC. The head is set for 2 to be on the intake stroke and 3 on the exhaust stroke, I believe. This is my first time doing timing like this, so any input would be nice. I just don't want a piston to come up and smash my brand new valves...

I had the service manual CD at one point, but lost the damn thing before I even needed to use it.
