K&N Air Filter

Hi!

Just wanted to get opinions on me getting a K&N air filter and installing it on my '04 RA. I'm picking it up after work so I just thought I'd ask before I go to the parts store and buy it.

Thanks for the thoughts

I had a drop in for a while. You really won't add any power or see any effect. Maybe if you are lucky you will get a .5 mpg boost. They are nice for the fact that they pay for themselves over time. Just don't over oil them or else you will foul your MAF. K&N's do flow well however they filter worse than paper filters. For the same price and results you can buy a cone filter, chop your factory airbox and at least get a better sound to go along with no gains.

Decent brand for factory performance. I wouldn't buy it if your looking to gain some ponies, but if it's just for a replacement, it's nice.

I have a used one. I ran it for about 10,000km and went the DIY short ram route. The k&n needs a cleaning, but if anyone wants it, 15 bucks and it's yours (shipped)

for the DIY cone, look at the pipe coming into the back of the air box, cut the pipe right there, and tighten the cone clamp.

I have an AEM short ram with their dry filter...I don't like the dry too much. It's actually falling apart on me after 3 years

Edit: I just realized something...I think you ment that you have the drop in and not the cone haha
