Open air filter in engine bay?

ive been searching for an open air filter(no k&n,and get a tune)
know i have a question: are this open air filters affected with high tempetures of the engine bay?

i ask cause i had a bmw m3 and modified the air intake bought it from dinan and this filter was located in the lower part of the front bumper with a heat shield on it this was to eliminate heat from the engine bay being sucked into the filter.

iam certain this open aiffilters in the evo are affected by heat so why vendors dont do anything regarding this issue?

thanks for any comments

Once the car gets going, cool air will be blow across the engine bay and the filter. You can make a heat shield, but it has to isolate the filter from any open access to the hot air. Search for the Apex induction box and you'll see an example

I always heard that with the evo your best bet is stick with the stock airbox or something similar with a good drop-in filter. I like the sound of the car with an intake or open filter but if you are looking for max performance then stick with a setup that eliminates hot air from under the hood either way you need a tune to get the most out of it and not run even richer

Wow...that looks pretty good!! Do you think that cover will become a heatsink when it gets hot?
