Alright, I'm new here and new to the whole "sport car" scene. I'm pretty young and I'm planning on buying my an RA with full down cash. I live in Canada and the RA I'm planning to buy is about $24,000 with all the extra stuff. I was wondering if they give any type of rebates with cash? Is it a good idea to pay with cash or would I lose my money in the long run? I'm just wondering because I really don't want to spend all my saved up money to have the depreciation be huge and if I ever re-sell it think back that I should have never payed all that load of cash. I've really been trying to gather all the info I can on this cae and I've researched Mitsu and the RA as much as I could. But, I think it's best to ask people that drive them and actually have experience in them. Oh and fyi I plan on buying the car sometime within a year. Oh and will the '05 be out within a year?
Don't flame me, I'm new!
lol

LanceArt.. some dealers do give you a better deal if you put down all cash, also you don't have to give them extra money for the interest they'll charge you. Depending on if you want to add mods to your car or not, i would finance a few thousand and put that money into mods
but then again.. it is also nice to have a car that you fully out right own.

Yea, I was thinking more along the lines of owning right out and then not needing to worry about extra bills. Jusr insurance and gas, lol. I am going to mod it but that can be done in the future, the car is my main goal right now...
Question though, do you or anyone else have any idea then the '05 model will be released? Also, would it be a good idea to buy the RA full cash or save a little more and buy an '03 or imported '04 Evo?
Any and all feedback please.

for all you guys trying to buy one outright with cash...dont do it like that!!!! You will learn that in life your credit is more important than nearly anythingIf you have the funds to purchase the car outright then you have enough to put a huge number down and finance for 1 year with a REALLY REALLY low payment even with no co-signer and a high interest rate. Go in and get a first time buyer loan on a car that you negotiate down to somewhere in the mid-$16's K. You put down like $14K and make a $150 payment for a year and get all the credit points after 1 year for an approved auto loan, consistant payments, AND paid auto loan. just keep the residual that you have in an account and dont touch it so you dont mess up your payment schedule. In the end when it is time to buy a house or a NICE car in the future, you will thank me for this advise. If you want other help on how to build credit, I am here all the time.

I never thought of it that way Michael. I'm just one of those young punks looking to get the car and have no worries about payments... haha
But yea, I will need credit in the future. NICE car, eh? I thought the RA was nice!

Yeaa... I know :/ I just read the car list thing... 2003-2004 EVO inadmissable, lol :/ I guess it would be best to buy an RA for now and then buy the EVO when it's actually sold in Canada.
Probally a lot cheaper and less hassle to wait. I'm just planning to buy an RA with cash so I wanted an EVO... lol but w/e RA it is! Trade in's could work when the EVO is in Canada, right?

the motor was not built by Ford.
From my understanding, Mazda used the Duratec block (which is Ford), but then I believe they built their own motor from that. The car has been really reliable, and is not a piece of junk. I drove it pretty hard. It's got some good pick up.
I may be wrong, but alls I know is the Mazda 3 motor is not a Ford motor.
I heard the Ralliart Lancer has lots of body roll versus the Mazda 3. Is this true?

either way, as life would have it I didn't get the mazda...they're own fault b/c they tried ripping me off so much on my trade...but funny thing is I'm happy about it....been flipping back and forth so much the past few days that I didn't know what I wanted until we were in Saturn again...
and it hit me...the RA is nicer outside, to me, handles a little better, but is bumbier, and in the manual feels more powerful, the mazda was nice b/c the shfting was silky smooth, more so then the ra, but I'm glad I'm back trying to get an RA, that and well I got tint and an alarm included into the deal, along with the trade and I'm paying $60/month less then I was going to on the Mazda, hehe...
...I knew there was something good when the saleslady at the southside dealer actually spelled "Ralliart" right...
The deal almost didn't happen though b/c after we worked it out we went into the finance office where we got badgered for 5 minutes by the finance officer about a deposit, to the point where we left, and my gf cried out in the car
...I thought "f**k it, I like the car but it's not worth all the s**t"....but today we got a call from the head of finance for mitsubishi and she assured us that if we wanted to continue the deal we won't have to deal with that guy, so we decided to...well actually she did b/c I wasn't there when she got the call.If it works out I'll post some pics in the appropriate spot
