Issue with 06' RA engine light...

Hi all...
Thx to all the Mods and Members for the good work and advice involved on the site...

A question or two about my 06' RA...
Whenever I fuel up, the car wont start unless I floor it, it wants to stall for about 20 seconds or so then seems to run alright...a minor issue but worth asking about...
(I've replaced the gas cap)
Second issue...
I have to get the RA emission tested soon, and an ongoing engine light problem is apparent, the car runs alright, and is maintained the best it can be, it runs great, is there a diagram of the engine sensors on the site some where? something I can reference while trying to isolate the problem...
Thx for any advice...
Regards...
John...

sounds like the evap emissions purge solenoid, does it ever idle pretty low, or bounce around?

also where in Ontario? I've seen a few new RA's around here, just wondering...

Thx for replies...

Hi Thx...
I've scoped out the boards and found a few issues that I can address for these codes that came up...
PO171...(this the tricky one)
P2195...02 sensor...(exaust leak? clean/replace sensor...)
PO441...evap valve issue...(easy to find now, thx...)
any additional advice on those small things to keep an eye out for would be great..

Will post when I get all cleared, and e-tested...
thx..
Regards..
John...

John...

P0171 is related to the oxygen sensor....check for exhaust leaks first...you should see black soot around where exhaust is leaking...and you'd hear it as well...

I live in Trenton, and RalliartN lives near Cobourg...either one of us could lend a hand, if you don't mind not murdering us

P0171 - System lean on bank 1.
Also check for leaks in the air intake after the MAF.
In my case, it was the fuel injector insulators that were leaking, there was a TSB for this. I posted about it somewhere in the forum a few years ago.

Thx Boys...

Will check for all intake and exaust leakage, this bank 1 lean...ugh...lost me here, in general I'm usually covered in grease up to my elbows with an assortment of (last count 28 engines) around the place (weed whippers included) but have to admit some of these injection related terms leaves me...
Just because I havent done something has never stopped me, I'll iron all this stuff out links to pics/threads would be great...
All the best...
TIA...
John...

If you have that many engines around then injection will be nothing for you lol.
Bank 1 refers to one side of a V configuration engine. It's also used to refer to inline configuration engines. All messages on a 4 cylinder that could refer to either bank of a V6 for example will say bank 1.

A failing purge valve solenoid counts as a vacuum leak which leans out your mixture and will pop the P0171. The fact you have a hard time starting the car after a refuel makes it 100% sure. It's the cause for your evaporation code also.
