Okay, here's an update:
I spoke with Jeff with Engineered Performance ( http://www.engineered.net/) on the phone today and here's what we discussed:
"I can probably source out a differential fairly easily. I only need a commitment from you in the way of a non-refundable deposit to cover my R&D. I have built a number of low volume and one-off units...$300 non-refundable deposit to prototype a limited slip for your car. The final price should come in right around $599. I'll need about three weeks build time with the balance due at shipping. I dont forsee the price being higher than $599, but let's just call that the "target" price for now. If you can get a group buy, I'll knock of $25 ea from your cost up to 4 for a total discount up to $100 for you."

I saw in an earlier thread that you thought RRM had one for the '04 - '06 AT...don't see that. I looked at Quaife and Wavetrac and don't see one either.
I contacted wavetrac directly and they told me that p/n 76.309.180WK for the 4g eclipse GS (manual and auto) would also fit the 04-06 Lancer Ralliart. Now the part numbers between the manual diffs for the 3g eclipse (which the Quaife QDH7BR was originally made for) and Lancer RA are the same. now the 4g GS manual diff is a different part number than the 3g and the RA, but Wavetrac said their diff fits the manual and the auto 4g GS, the same part number also fits the 3g eclipse, and also that it fits the lancer RA. furthermore, the automatic diff part number between the 3g, 4g and RA is the same, so by deduction, the Quaife and the Wavetrac should fit both manual and auto transmissions for all 3.
I have two spare manual transmission differentials, I've said this before, if someone can source an auto diff, I will take measurements to confirm this speculation once and for all.
If you can get another manufacturer into the mix, by all means, but you should be aware that there may be more compatibility than is currently recognized.

Anyhow, Ressurected, and anyone else interested, I would encourage you to contact Jeff at his number so that you can get to know a little bit about him and his credentials.
The catalyst for me persuing this was because Wavetrac and Quaife charge a fortune for their LSDs, and I have learned, through persistence, that you can often find an equivalent solution for a more reasonable price. This appears to be just that.

I googled the product and from what I can tell it is simply a conversion...
I also found this post, linking to a conversion unit for sale on ebay.

Ziggy @ RTM Racing sells these for $185...I have one installed in my old diff, waiting for someone to try it out...$100.

" Yes, it is a conversion. I start with a stock differential Mishima gears, machine the gears, install the clutches, and insert a preload assembly. The difference between my unit and an insert, which is what he is referring to for $185, is there are no clutches. Without clutch is it's like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound. Worthless. The gears are machined the crutches are manufactured from sintered bronze which is one of the hardest frictions surfaces available and the same material that most high performance and racing clutches are made from. My preload assembly is CNC machined and heat-treated and the springs provide a preload pressure much higher than any available "insert". Another thing about those inserts, they are putting pressure against the stock steel thrust washers which are not designed to carry a load, they are only wear surfaces. When a great load is pushed against them, they overheat, become galled, and will eventually seize, causing catastrophic failure! Google "Phantom Grip failure" - Jeff Ianitello, EP.

I cant describe the technical details on a true LSD, but the conversion inserts plates and springs to hold pressure on all the gears at all times making a stock diff function the same way an LSD does. Here are some pics I found, they arent specific to our car but they will show you the differences all the same.

"... Yes... and these pictures of the most popular insert offered by Phantom Grip. This is what a typical insert looks like after a short amount of time. The plates are not heat treated, so they will gall and seize against the gears, and the gears against the case:" - Jeff
