The Ultimate 2009 Ralliart Thread mega merge

**Note from Otter - This is the new official thread. The old one was filled with speculation that is now irrelevant since Mitsu has made official releases about the car.**

**Note from Kurt - This thread contains information about power, weight, color, release, and anything else that you need to know about the 2009 RalliArt. Read this thread before starting a new one.**

From Edmunds.com :

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/au...hotopanel..2.*

Seems a little TOO sophisticated to be a WRX competitor (e.g. encroaches on Evo turf) ... just my thought. I'm sure the guys at Mitsu know what they're doing

man that sux...they should just make it a choice between 5 speed or automatic...would bring the price down alot and increase sales...bad decision...guess they are trying to get people to pay more and get the gsr...how much does the ralliart cost anyways?

That sst only thing doesn't sound right. If its supposed a more affordable "evo" why have the more expensive tranny. I bet it was come out with the 5 speed only

Sounds like they are really going to try to market it as a EVO RS replacement. Probably not going to be in the WRX price range, more like the RS price range (slightly under $30k base).

If it did hit at the WRX price range, though, it'll sell like there's no tomorrow. I just don't see that happening.

We'll see if that really happens though.

its 253 lb ft, 310 is a typo...no way they'd make it more than an Evo

Huh, sounds like the rumors are true that the RA will get the same AWD system as Evo 9. Having a 5 speed option would've been though. Question now is the price.

if they don't have a 5 speed then they really majorly screwed up on this one...and if it's 30k then there is basically no reason to sell the car...cuz a gsr is like 32k...i mean what's 2k when buying a car?...like 20 extra dollars a month for your payment or something....whoop te doo....25k would be awesome for this car...needs a dang 5 speed though

i know alot more people can afford a 25k car....35k is out of most people's range....the ralliart could certainly pick up a ton of sales if it's in the 25k range

What I'm wondering is that since it has "detuned" evo engine, can't you simply fix that problem with a few bolt-ons and a tune?

They chose the SST so people cant tune the crap out of it easily to have as much or more hp then the Evo, its an easy business decision, right?

If its true the SST will make the 4B11T hard to tune, this makes perfect sense. Possible buyers have a right to be bummed, but it makes sense for Mitsu in the long run.
