The Ultimate 2009 Ralliart Thread mega merge
I was referring to the option of using the pedal shifters or driving in auto mode, either way I think they will still offer a 5spd, they just dont need to annouce it cuz it will not be as big news as the SST. I think they can sell more of the Ralliart than the WRX's b/c of it. And we all now its all about that C.R.E.A.M.......Cash. Rules. Everything. Around. Me.

i just hope that their just pushing this sst setup for more buyers b/c id much rather get the 5speed.
Since both transmissions are six-speeds, and manual at heart, choice will be influenced by traditionalism versus techno-lust and budget. The standard manual box shifts well and is a pleasure to use; the DSG (that's Direct Shift Gearbox) is a manual gearbox with twin motorcycle-type wet clutches and electronic/hydraulic-controlled automatic shifting or manual shifting by means of steering column-mounted paddles. In manual mode, it shifts much more quickly than the standard transmission, and in automatic mode it works better than a conventional torque converter automatic, with less power loss. Advantages? Automatic mode, for those times when traffic and convenience dictate, and incredibly fast shifting. Disadvantages? Fifty pounds or so more weight and an extra $1,075 to the bottom line. It's a hard choice between the two, really.
So you can have more convetional car for more money and weight. And we pay for convenience everytime we buy a 20oz soda than a 2 liter...
20oz(.89-1.29, price)
2 liter(.99-1.49, price)

i test drove a vw gti with the dsg when it first came out and i was not impressed. the salesman was showing me all the great things about the dsg and to me it still drove like a weak auto(no offense to auto guys). in the end with compact cars it should always be manny and bmw 745s can have the autos.
I just have to say that this car is very appealing to me. I bought a GTS w/ CVT a few months back, not knowing that this was even in the works. I love the subtle changes in the grill and rear end, interior is about the same apart from the optional Recaros... the turbo and AWD is very appealing... SST doesn't turn me away, although I would probably opt for a M/T if it was offered. I had a manual before I got the GTS, and these paddle shifters just ain't cuttin' it!! Looks like this GTS will be traded in
People, don't worry, Mitsubishi will offer a 5speed manual gearbox with this car. They will announce it but not yet, they need to tote and sale this SST to the press and media first.
the true basis of the manual is that you can choose your own gears. the stick shift or the clutch pedal has nothing to do with it. if the technology were around back then, there would have been another golden standard as to how we switch gears. it just so happens that the stick shift/clutch pedal combo caught on...
. I'm still pretty sure they will offer the manual, but shame on them if they don't. P.S. I can see it already, man, he still got beat by the manual even though he had the SST which is supposed to shift faster. Oh wait, that's right he didn't have it in the right "mode".
