Still, hybrids are great if you want power with fuel economy in city driving -- personally I'd strongly recommend holding off on anything that doesn't come with lithium-based batteries, because those hybrids are coming soon and will be incredible for weight and options such as plug-in power (you can buy mod kits for the Prius, etc., but don't think any original equipment comes with lithium yet).
Hah -- while you're right, the manual in the Insight was not very well combined with the electric motor, resulting in extremely fast drawdown of the batteries, and less peak torque than the corresponding CVT-electric combination. I guess I should have been clearer -- for an electric motor to work properly with a combustion-powered engine, manual transmission doesn't make any real sense, because electric motors provide continuous power that can't be readily combined with geared power.
[in the likely event you didn't know, from about 1990 to 2004 or so, prices in Canada were also steeply discounted, even more than in the US; they only stopped here because our dollar went up relative to the US]
Sounds like they are really going to try to market it as a EVO RS replacement. Probably not going to be in the WRX price range, more like the RS price range (slightly under $30k base).
If it did hit at the WRX price range, though, it'll sell like there's no tomorrow. I just don't see that happening.

Honest to god who is seriously thinking about buying a manual car esp the Ralliart ? i know how mitsu caters to both parties and it would be stupid not to release a 5speed. I definatly would go for the Ralliart if it was manual but if the price range is about 25k might as well get the evo x
