I finally walked into the local dealership, here in Ottawa, Canada, he is expecting 3 Ralliarts in August and wanted me to put a deposit. I asked for the colours that would be available but didn't know..

i've talked to two dealerships in ontario. both don't have any ideas when the car's being released.

as for a deposit, the one dealership i asked told me to wait for more information before putting a deposit down.

I don't think deposits are necessary... unless you want to be absolutely #1 to have one. Personally I like to wait 2-6 months for first revs to see what problems may arise.

I agree, I personally don't think they have much demand right now so I should be able to get one of the three. They got 5 GSRs, only 2 are left with them now..

Im pretty sure that the whole deposit thing has nothing to do with the cars release considering I went to a dealership here in San Antonio and they didnt know anything about the RA and they asked if I wanted to put a deposit down on it

You're absolutely right about getting the first one, and that's exactly why I put down a deposit in February... though only in the form of an uncashed cheque (at least until they order the car). After all, why not put a deposit down if you're absolutely sure you want one? -- gives the dealer lots of incentive to get an order in early, and at most you lose a few dollars of potential interest.

Just make sure there's a sunset clause -- mine's at the end of November. Nothing beats a deposit for making sure you get the first one on the lot, and in a small market like mine, there are perhaps only going to be one or two Ralliarts coming in total (I'm hoping there will be more, but no matter what, I get the first one here if they're out by November 30 :-)

[as for potential problems with the car, you're also right about that, but life's too short to take no risks]

Exactly -- when I put my deposit down, almost everything the dealer knew about the car, they knew through me -- their regional manager confirmed it was coming out this year (which was good enough to take a deposit), but other than that they knew nothing official at that time. Putting down a deposit doesn't have anything to do with pricing, specs, or availability, unless you want it to (at the time I put down the deposit, I knew the specs, and that it would cost less than an Evo MR, but that was about it).

for the time being no. There is a video on youtube with a mits employee saying they are researching a 5-speed option for later.

might as well wait for the 5 speed..

SST is like manual without the clutch anyway.. plus heavier...

just shifts faster..

if it comes with a 5 speed, the Ralliart may arguably be better than the EVO X when it comes to drag.

Mainly the longer ratios that will accompany it.

That's the case with Subarus and their WRX's at least...
Correct me if im wrong...

that might now be true because of the X's ability to run wider tires
