MAN DOWN!! First casualty :(
hey guys, just thought I'd chime in. First of all, my car was not modded. I only have a forge diverter valve, tints, and my drop on eibach lowering springs.
Anyhow, this all started last night when my CEL turned on but there nothing seemed wrong. The car drove normal, like always. I got home and just went to bed hoping it would disappear this morning.
I was driving to work and the car had a hard time shifting to third from second, it practically redlined itself and I was on "Normal" and on "D" as well. Once the car finally hit 6th gear, it seemed normal. UNTIL it shifted itself from 6th to 5th and wouldn't go back to 6th.
I was driving to the dealership as I noticed that the car wouldn't shift to 2nd, 4th, or 6th. It would just skip them, and trust me, it doesn't feel good at all. I thought my car was gonna blow up or something.
The dealership diagnosed the car and it came out with a p180c or c180p. Either way, it said that something in the SS-T tranmission was stuck.
I'm now driving a loaner as I wait for Mitsu to replace the tranny and ecu but before that happens, corporate has requested that Mitsu run some more tests and what not. Total estimated repair: $15k.
PS: The dealership tried multiple times to remove the CEL light, disconnect battery, and etc but the tranny still drives the same. =(

I was dricing to the dealership as I noticed that the car wouldn't **** to 2nd, 4th, or 6th. It would just skip them, and trust me, it doesn't feel good at all. I thought my car was gonna blow up or something.

did they give you an evo for a loaner? haha jk... sorry to hear it. hope everything goes well
I wish! I'm driving a Hyundai Sonata thanks to Avis lol....but hey, at least the dealer's paying. I just hope i'm not down for too long. The rep said it might take two weeks.
This make me wonder now as to whether or not we can swap a real Evo X manual tranny to our cars in the hopes of not having to go through what you have just experienced. Then again I could always just swap a 4g63 in and call it a day.

ok but what do you guys think..alex wants to throw in the towel and get another car! yes he is thinking about trading it in for a IS250 or something! sorry alex but i think your selling out so i need some back up on this! i wouldnt giv e the car back i told him think about it now your getting a new tranny to mess around with! whats your opinion people?? trade or keep the RA?
once again, SHEER STATISTICS MEAN THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. No company, absolutely none, makes an 100% infallible transmission. Keep the car, take the new transmission. No need to panic.
OP sorry to hear what happened, I'm sure mitsubishi will find a way to get that resolved. They wont let this issue kill their business with the current economy like this. Just wish they can fix it right away or replace it to resolve that issue 100%.
