I doubt the transmission actually costs anywhere near that. Several grand probably, but the $15k is inflated price with profit to mitsubishi if you tried to just buy one.

It sucks if it happened to you, but unfortunately, it does have to happen to someone. And if it was one of the few production units that failed, it's obvious that they want their engineers to look at it. When my friend had his '05 jetta (first year of the new model), the rear calipers were having some issues, so VW sent up engineers from the plant in mexico to check it out.

There really is no reason for people to be freaking out.... yet.

If it was skipping gears, almost sounds like one of the clutches went out. There are 2 clutches, 1 for the odd gears and one for the even gears (odd gear clutch takes care of reverse I believe). Did he try to manually shift it? It was bound to happen to this tranny. I hope they get the bugs out soon... I was thinking of grabbing an MR.

i knew this day would come... just glad it happened to someone who hasnt modded yet. because we all know how that might end up.

if you trade... just get an evo. i'd have an evo ix in my driveway if the bank would let me finance one haha. damn my short credit history and the current economy!

with that being said... i'm still happy with my RA

That sucks, but I still have faith in this transmission! By the way, the cost of a new transmission is between 4-5 grand. I have asked several dealers in my area (in case I started modding and break the transmission early). I think most of the 15k repair bill is probably labor.

I had my lovely Evo 9 MR for a month before the dealer took the car back because the banks wouldn't finance me. I have to have the RA for 6-8 months before I have payment history with Mitsubishi and I am able to go back for the Evo 9....

So, I guess ,for now, I am just counting the days to where I get my third pedal back.

The tranny alone is $9.8K. Call Mitsu and ask.

I wish it was that easy. Supposedly, the tranny ECU is inside the SS-T so they cant' open it up and replace it.

My dealership has never opened up that tranny. They haven't even removed it from any other RA or Evo for that matter.

hernadez I completely understand where your coming from not that I've experienced it but What if you did mod the hell out of the car. Thats $15,000 coming out of your pocket end of story.

So I understand and if you want to leave the mitsu world you will be missed.

Guys whats so special about a third pedal. It;s a whole lot of inconvience if you ask me.
My brother and I have a project EVO 8 with a third pedal and all I use it for is to drag.

If your buying a new car I take it that it is going to be your daily driver becuase if you wanted a track car then I hope you wouldn't buy a new car.

Do you really want to be manually controlling everything when going to Work/School.
Out with a girl HINT HINT.....

There is only but so many things you can do with your hands and feet in a car lol.

NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE.
