MAN DOWN!! First casualty :(
Most Evo MR owners don't have that kind of loot.
The SSTs are repairable and can be pulled apart and put back together. Mitsubishi doesn't want their dealers service team doing that right now because they need to know why it broke. But it sounds like one of the clutches isn't working. Don't give up on your car because of one little hiccup.
Guys whats so special about a third pedal. It;s a whole lot of inconvience if you ask me.
My brother and I have a project EVO 8 with a third pedal and all I use it for is to drag.
If your buying a new car I take it that it is going to be your daily driver becuase if you wanted a track car then I hope you wouldn't buy a new car.
Do you really want to be manually controlling everything when going to Work/School.
Out with a girl HINT HINT.....
There is only but so many things you can do with your hands and feet in a car lol.
NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE.

I need the third pedal; it doesn't have the hesitation that the SST has while in sport mode (I haven't tried the Evo X MR in super sport mode), and when accelerating hard a few times in a row, you can feel the transmission vibrating. Once hot, the transmission feels as bad as a standard slush-box.
For gentle daily driving, putting the trans in normal-auto seems fine, but I hate automatics.....
Normal mode seems to allow for some slip on every shift, which in turn leads me to the conclusion that it would wear out the transmission sooner than Sport-Manual and shifting at the same RPM as auto would.
I love how off topic this thread went lol...
anyhow, Mitsu called me yesterday afternoon and they let me know that the tranny should be here by next friday and that I should get my car back by the following tuesday!
=)
Let's hope for the best.

That's great news!!! It should not even be a big deal since it is under warranty anyways, You'll make out fine!!
The clutches felt like slipping, you can barely shift in auto mode .. and it skip gears .. we only had use of 2nd, 4th and 6th gear in manual because auto is almost undrivable .. even in gear, the engine will sometimes free rev ..
If that is really the issue its a cheap fix .. I can't believe they are changing the gearbox
..too bad you don't have the codes to verify ..
Is this how the car reacted ??

This is part of their agreement with Getrag. For a certain period of time after the transmission is put into service, they will not service a failed unit, but will instead replace it so that Getrag can perform a forensic failure analysis on it to determine what are the issues they need to address in future releases.

Not being a dick or anything .. but where did you see or read that the SST gearboxes is made by getrag??
Forums ?? Speculation ?? Or because the gearbox looked like the one that getrag has on its website ??
It may be correct, or it may be wrong .. but until there's hard evidence, we can help by not spreading such rumours .. WE DON'T KNOW WHO MADE THE GEARBOXES.. AND WE DON'T KNOW THE LIMITS ..
There's 3 possible origins .. maybe more ..
ZF (traditional Mitsubishi auto gearbox manufacturer)
Borg Warner
Getrag
so why can't we spread rumours that its ZF ??

In the information that was released to the press, Mitsubishi stated that they sourced the part from Getrag.
Of course while putting up for Gunzo, I also found an article about Getrag filing for Chapter 11 protection for one part of its US business on account of Chrysler pulling out of a deal to buy twin-clutch transmissions. (http://www.worldcarfans.com/9081118....tcy-protection)
