And the GTR is on the Top Gear uncool wall for this reason. Sure it's fast but it does the work for you.

Clearly you have never driven the Deerfoot during rush hour, or Glenmore or basically any of the major roads in Calgary.

Which I agree with completely (my commute is 2hrs or more a day)

That I will concede for sure lol.

My point was Rush hour traffic in any fair size city is not that different (it's a pain in the ****). When I worked day shift (thankfully I work nights now) My commute was 4+ hrs 3 3/4 hrs to travel about 70 kilometers (roughly 45 miles?). And like you said a manual in that is just way too much hassle.

Actually, I just looked it up for the hell of it, it turns out, California alone has a higher population then all of Canada. lol

ZOMG sounds terrifying...lol. When you try and tackle the west side highway during rush hour, or the LIE, or Northern State, or the absolute worst, the Van Wyck. Please... you have to take into account the type of drivers your around as well...

Alberta is the Texas of Canada, you have to deal with idiots in giant trucks and SUVs. Traffic is traffic.

I found quite a few cars that I thought were cool on Top Gear's uncool list. It doesn't change the fact that the GT-R is a monster on a track, or twin-clutch equipped porsches, or mercedes, or Audi R8s, etc.

It's a monster on the track but we're not talking about track driving. For some, the visceral feel of a true manual cannot be replaced with a TC system, no matter how fast it shifts.

This is true, its all subjective, what one person prefers, another may not. But, like I said, I would have never thought I would buy a Sports Car with anything BUT a full Manual Tranny, I drove the Ralliart and it completely changed my mind.

That doesn't even really mean much, if you put a Transmission that shifts faster "automatically" then Manually in one of those cars, what then? Honestly, this whole transmission thing is soooo subjective, people have different preferences, like I think the WRX/STI are fugly, but like the looks of the Ralliart/Evo X, but others may think the opposite.

You'd increase the weight of those cars and they not be the same nimble beasts that they are.
