launch control
launch control
Hey.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but Ralliarts do not come with any kind of launch control system.
Without LC how are you guys getting a nice start off the line? My car pulls hard through every gear except when its in first and below 3,500, being able to launch at something like 2,000 would cut my 1/4mile time in half haha.
Is it vehicular suicide to rev up in N and knock the shifter into drive?

I have held down the brakes and accelerated to get a pretty good launch, beat some wrx and turbo civics with my stock RA, all due to the launch. BUT, the sst will tell you to "slow Down" after you launch that way a couple times. I suggest the ams tran cooler, that would help with that problem.

launching a car is very hard on it, doesnt matter if it has LC or not, the car will take a beating with any kind of launch.
There has been a few Evo MR tranny's to go BOOM from what seems like overly using the LC. Check out a few threads in the evox area about it.
Risk over reward. Risk the 10k tranny to be rewarded with beating the riced out civic (at the track of course)

^ That's still putting added stress on the clutch discs an will probably cause a premature transmission failure. But then again, it's your car so you can do what you want. Like everyone said it's not like this transmission is cheap to replace. Hell even the transmission fluid cost an arm and a leg.
as long as you're not holding it at a high rpm for a long time, it should be fine. i've brake-boost launched mine 40+ times at auto-x events, but i only let it get up to 2800-3000 rpm for less than a second usually. nothing's gone wrong yet.
the big problem with that is heat. if you hold it for a long time, you'll build up a lot of heat and possibly damage your clutches.

...........does not put any more "stress' on the clutch pack.
i did not say . use the hand brake and then rev the engine.
Call me crazy but I'm having a hard time understanding why everyone is trying to drag a Ralliart. The car wasn't meant for that. It's a Rally car. Hell all the reviews I read and even on my test drive proved that the Ralliart is a dog from a dead stop. I know if I wanted a drag car I wouldn't have bought a Ralliart because it's not exactly a torque monster. It would take a hell of a lot of money to make it a good drag car.
Ummm...the Ralliart isn't a rally car, there isn't a car produced today that can claim that. To me the Ralliart is the same as the Evo X MR, STI, WRX, whatever, it's intended to be a quick and fun daily driver, nothing more, nothing less.
Ok, so it's not a rally car but that's what the Ralliart, Evo, STI, and WRX were based off of and just turned into more practical daily drivers. It's like buying a sportbike. They're based off racing bikes but detuned and equiped for daily riding on the street not the track.
