Question Considering a 2010 Ralliart or 2010 WRX

First of all I know this is a Evo forum so you will overwhelmingly pick the Ralliart. I just wanted to get some input on why.

Currently I have a heavily modified 2005 Dodge Neon SRT-4. I want to keep some pick up and go even though these two cars won't match it. I take out Evo's and Sti's all day long....anyways...looking for a more family friendly, traffic car with some power now.

My two problems with the Ralliart are:

Cost: $27,500
HP: 237

The WRX has:

Cost: $24, 500
HP: 265

So basically it feels like I am getting a slower car for more money. Also I am not very excited about paddle shifting and I don't like automatic.

Thoughts? Thanks!

To be honest with you i love Mitsu's but i would get the New WRX Edmunds got their stock WRX 0-60 5.2 seconds.... pretty impressive for that price. plus the interior is amazing i love the seats and the car looks beasty. Mitsu ralliart interior is crap cheap plastic trim basic no thrill design.

Well my Roommate actually has a 09 WRX Sedan and I don't like the interior, it seems cheap unless you get the Nav system. Also when you sit in the drivers seat it feels really low to the ground.

My best friend has a 09 wrx and he loves it. I was trying to get one but couldn't find any in stock where I live and I needed a car that day. I think the RA is a nicer looking car and has better seats if you get the Recaro package, but in all honesty I feel the WRX is a better buy for the money.

Sorry Malik but i had an 03 Lancer and the interior in your Evo is no better. You prolly don't like the X either.

OP: It depends how you see things. Keep in mind though jus because it doesn't have clutch pedal doesn't mean its an automatic. Technically and essentially it is a manual transmission for the simple fact that it operates through clutches and not a torque converter like an automatic transmission would. Do not be fooled. I see where you are coming from thought and if you really want to feel connected and that you are in total control then the SST isn't for you. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't test drive it either, you might end up liking it, trust me there are a lot of ppl who had the same mind set as you including myself and ended up buying one or an MR. You cannot knock it if you don't try it. With the RA though you do get a bit more safety features and technology (FAST key, bluetooth, battery saver, etc.) standard and not to mention the AWD from the IX which is why there is almost a 3k difference. The RA runs 14.0-14.5 in the 1/4 depending on driver, far from slow and with a flash your will be in the mid to high 13's. I will say this though mid 12's are achievable with bolt ons, X or FP Red turbo and a tune but that would be pushing the stock clutch packs, if you want more then you will have to upgrade them.

As for the WRX if you want more performance and absolutely must have a manual tranny then that is the car to buy, i will say drive it as well, I wasn't blown away by it and the interior isn't light years ahead of the RA in any way. Its fast for what it is and you can't go wrong if you need that performance up front. But from a family car and comfort stand point the RA would probably be the better choice. The transmission makes city driving tolerable and you can still have fun with it believe it or not.

Also have you looked at the Cobalt SS and the Speed 3? Those cars are pretty good for the price.

My Pops has a 10 WRX and I have the 09 RA. I never drove them back to back in stock form (my RA is chipped), but I would guess they would run pretty close in most instances. I wouldn't worry too much about stock numbers on a boosted car (but you know that.) $500=50 hp any way you look at it.

I hated the idea of no stick, but after a loooong process of learning how to train the RA to be driveable in Normal mode, I am pretty well passed that bias (the SST is a long way from a slush box).

It is hard to justify the cost difference, though (especially if you are looking sportback vs hatch).

Keep in mind the Subbies shifter is crap, splurge on the short shifter if you go that way. Also, for whatever reason, even though the sedans are almost identical in external size, the RA feels MUCH bigger on the inside (might be an selling point for a family vehicle).

Just drive both and see if the RA is worth the extra cash. As far as the MS3, I have tried to convince myself to buy it for three years and two cars (GTI and the RA) and always pass. Can't put my finger on it, but it never feels right.

The cobalt is a POS, but it is fast and cheap (think less ricey SRT4!)

I think the RA is a much more pleasing car visually (also not so common). I preferred the GTI over both options by a fair margin, so maybe a GLI would be in the mix for you? Much better interior, much, much, much better mpg. Only 2wd (for better or worse).

Oh, and if you like to "take out" evos and stis, the RA is not going to make you happy on the street. Launching/spinning the tires is not it's strong point.

Oh, no... not another one.

You live pretty close to me, so I say, get the WRX. I like the exclusivity.

Seriously, though. I say test drive both. You have nothing to lose. Also, compare each of the packages. Also, don't buy a Mitsu in your area; go to one of the South Coast dealerships. I can GUARANTEE that you will get a better deal.

If you're worried about the idea that the RA has less power out of the box than the WRX and that it is heavier than the WRX, then go with the WRX. You seem to be focused on numbers, so it will probably be the best choice.

Just know this: The RA is a BETTER value. [Mr. T] It's been proven by science, foo. [/Mr. T] You get a more advanced driveline, rigid chasis, and IMO a better interior. Also, I'm kind of digging the fact that every time I walk out and see my car, I say to myself, "Hot damn! That's a good looking car!"

I have an X GSR and even I have considered getting a WRX for price reasons... I actually got a local quote on one for 22,199 so I could get it for about 24,000 a bit better mileage, still quick, and my main reason for looking... a lower monthly payment and insurance payment, but I fear I would miss the handling of my Evo a lot and perhaps I could get some springs and sway bars and have a similar handling car, anyway, sorry to get off on a rant but i'd go with the WRX. The RA is nice, but overpriced for it's performance ability.

I actually see a lot of older mitsu cars on the road.
