Not sure if it is just the Aus model or not, but when I put my RA in reverse I get an annoying beep in the cabin. Has anyone disabled this annoying feature or know where to look?
I searched the forums, sry if this issue has already been discussed.
Got my blue RA 3 weeks ago and love it. Will be posting pics soon, hopefully new mags soon.
From what I've read the only way to disable it is a setting in the cars computer, which can only be accessed by Mitsubishi service center. If you have a good dealership maybe they will be nice enough to disable it on your next service.
It’s not a reverse sensor thing. Think its was introduced on the MY10 Ralliarts but dont quote me on that as my MY10 sportsback has it as well (my ralliart built 11/09)
Cheers

I have the same thing on mine and have spoken to the technical manager at mitsubishi uk and asked him to turn it off while he was reprogramming my ecu and he said he cant as it comes from japan and the dealers etc have no control over it.
Some cars dont have it but when they have a software update on the ecu it turns this feature on sometimes
Saying its a safety thing for the SST is not true, there is a DIFFERENT tone which is sounded if the SST does not go into reverse correctly. I can think of no good reason for the tone to continue except to annoy and distract you when reversing!!
I don't have anything like that. Mine is a 2010 and the only noise I get is the regular back up sound from the transmission. It's almost a low whistling, almost like the sound of a ghost. Ya I know it's weird but my car sounds like a ghost backing up into the driveway.
Sorry to bump an old post, however i actually figured out a way to turn off the annoying reverse beep/alarm if its still relevant to anyone.
Using MUT coding and editing the ETACS from the cars ECU you can infact turn it off as shown in the image above (i changed it from available to not available)
Pretty damn sure this is something the dealer should be able to do if you cant figure it out yourself.
I did it myself using a Tactrix Openort 2.0 along with MMcoding and MUT coding mitsubishi.
Whoa, that would be a fantastic feature to get rid of...was thinking about cutting wires to the beeper but it seems to be the same transducer that's used for seatbelts, turn indicators etc. so that would be a bad idea.
The beeping sound seems to be related to the default settings of the alarm system. I locked the car and pressed long on the smallest button of the alarm remote (not sure the alarm remote is the original one). This seems to be the most silent setting of the alarm setting and it also disables the beeping while the door is opened and the engine is working.
