Maybe they are going for the "luxury good" pricing strategy. =)

It's about 500 bucks more that's all... barely noticeable, plus they need to slowly make a bit more money in sales if they want to get more capital to invest more in the lancer/evo/outlander/eclipse/galant, etc...

Btw, I'm sick of seeing Lancers on the road, I see them more than Civics, no kidding!

I see Lancers everywhere, mostly GTS. It's VERY rare to find a Ralliart cruising around. We have just over a million people living in Edmonton.

Yup, only know am I seeing more and more on Calgary's streets but it's like 97% DE/GTS, 1% Ralliarts and 2% Evo's (though I'm just pulling those numbers outta my butt as a gross generalization)

Same here in Vancouver, seen one or two ralliart, alot of evo's, some lancers but not much. However, civic still dominate the street in numbers.

Btw I think I should wait till May / June to order my 2010 coz 2011 may come and usually around that month will have good promotions and price went down. Am I right?

2011 Lancer Ralliart

http://www.autoinsane.com/2009/06/17...d-information/

This information was given in a statement earlier today by Daniel P. Kuhnert (Mitsubishi of North America Marketing President)

Update: Mitsubishi has announced official upgrades and pricing for its 2011 Lancer Ralliart turbocharged AWD sedan. The 2011 Lancer Ralliart will come with a 242hp (258 lb-ft of torque) turbocharged four-cylinder – up 5 horsepower from the 2010 version of the same 4B11 engine. The 2011 model will also have an optional 5 speed manual transmission as well as a TC-SST dual-clutch gearbox. Pricing for the manual transmission will start at $25,190, and the dual-clutch version will start at $26,590.

According to Mitsubishi the new 2011 Lancer Ralliart will also be 90 lbs lighter than the outgoing 2010 model. The biggest change from 2010 to 2011 will be better wheels and tires. The new Ralliart will come standard with 18 x 8.5-inch Enkei wheels (same as in the Evo GSR) that will carry 245/40R18 Yokohama ADVAN asymmetrical performance tires, a change from the mild 215mm Yokohama tires of the previous model year. The 2011 Ralliart will also gain slightly larger fenders in order to house the new bigger wheels and tires.

Mitsubishi says that the new Ralliart will have a .5 second quicker 0-60 time, giving the car a 0-60 in 5.4 seconds (2010 model did a 0-60 in 5.9 seconds). Considering that the $34,990 rally bred Lancer Evolution GSR does a 0-60 in 4.9 seconds, the new Ralliart looks pretty impressive.

Glad to see they are improving it. And the difference is not big enough that I want to stab myself for not having it.

Ummmm....this is the same crap that's been spread around on here for more than a year, down to the letter. If I remember correctly, the person they claim made that statement does not actually work for Mitsubishi anymore.

Earlier today? The article you linked to was published in June 2009.

Something I was thinking of, if they're going to the 245s of the Evo, they'll need to make pretty dramatic changes to the rear fenders. The fronts don't appear to be an issue but the rears certainly are. Given that this is Mitsubishi, it won't be some roll and pull job, it'll be changes to the sheet metal itself. Unless they plan on having three different rear fenders (one for the GTS, one for the RA, one for the Evo), they'll likely give the Ralliart the Evo fenders. This should logically drive up cost as should the 90 lbs removed (unless they're getting rid of options) and the Evo wheels and tires themselves. Moreover, that would put the car dangerously close to the Evo.
