Unless they plan on having three different rear fenders (one for the GTS, one for the RA, one for the Evo), they'll likely give the Ralliart the Evo fenders. This should logically drive up cost as should the 90 lbs removed (unless they're getting rid of options) and the Evo wheels and tires themselves. Moreover, that would put the car dangerously close to the Evo.
If they don't up the power on the X MR, it will be cutting it close. But the X still has the AYC and better suspension.

It would still be hard to rationalize the rather large price increase between the X GSR or MR and the Ralliart if you can get the Ralliart with a 5-speed, Evo wheels and tires, Evo engine and Evo fenders.

hrmm .... i dont know.... if the ralliart come in 5 speed y get a evo?? thats just gonna kill the evo market...

now the bigger wheels and tires... there not gonna be any fender mods or even wider fenders... there gonna shave off a few mm in the offset making it around 40mm and bang it fits and no rub.... lol nothing too big... i was on the stock evo x gsr wheels for a min... 18x8.5 +38 with 245 all i need was a slight roll in the rear and bang no rubbing at all and the fronts fit like a glove

That would require Mitsubishi to have three separate fenders and three separate wheels manufactured which increases cost.

My best guess is that if they get Getreg to beef up the transmission and equip the MR with more power. Then the 4-5k diff in price might be worth the upgrade from gsr to mr.

As for the RA, with a 4-5k diff between the GSR and RA, the RA will still have less power and won't have the trick diff. The 10k diff between the RA and MR would have to be justified with a beefier tranny on the MR, super sport mode, maybe finally a real launch control that won't kill the tranny, more power, and the trick diff.

As for the 5-spd RA someone mentioned, stealing sales from the X, if they price it far enough apart, the RA becomes a much better deal considering slightly better mileage, insurance, and maintainence costs. Might even expand their market since unlike subaru, if u want an awd sedan, the RA and X is your only option. So someone might be able to make the jump from a loaded GTS to a base RA 5spd if they can't get the RA with TcSST.

My thought about the twin clutch on the RA is that they're probably using it to amortize some kinda tooling in the MR. Obviously there are components that are different between the MR and RA twin clutch tranny. I suspect what they did was, the parts that carry torque and are different, they paid more for on the MR since it's lower volume. But there are a lot of parts shared, like the housing, that would've been a lot more expensive on the MR had they not amortized it over the RA range in terms of tooling.

That would push the price of the MR up even further. It would really put Mitsubishi in a difficult position. If they equipped the Ralliart with all of the things discussed, they'd have a hell of a time convincing people to pay more for an Evo, whether it be GSR or MR. To compensate for all the extra goodies, the price of the Ralliart would have to increase. If they wanted to change the Evo and give it more power, better equipment, etc. that would drive the price of the Evo up. I already know a few people who thought about an MR but just couldn't rationalize the price, they'd rather have a BMW for the 5000$+ an MR costs in Canada.

If for some miracle this is true, the RA will be Mitsu's new golden child. Could it tie with the rumors that Mitsu is really pulling the plug on the Evo, making 2010s the last model year for importing the halo cars here in the US?
