i hate to entertain this topic any further, but how exactly does the car behave differently racing red light to red light vs. at the drag strip? and if youre talking about awesome f&f street racing around corners with nos shooting flames from your exhaust while seeing neon-light style tunnel vision, it's illegal and stupid, though the evo mr did inch out the gsr on a real track, and i believe it was left in auto the whole time, iirc. (someone knowledgeable correct me if i'm wrong on that last one)

Removing the need to shift should give you a better time around the track as it's less to concentrate on, but place the shifter (paddles or rally type stick) where you feel comfortable without losing grip on the steering wheel + knowing the track you drive on and where to shift, I have no doubt that it will be faster then the auto.
The auto can't be custom tailored for each occation.

Sadly my dear you have alot to learn. Your 5 posts although entertaining show us a few things. 1. you race on the street like an assh0le and 2. you have a new RA owners giblet of actual knowledge.
Believe it or not, 99% of the guys on here not only know the sti is awd turbo, and that it has brembo brakes, and that its 305 hp 300 tq at the fly wheel stock, but they probably knew it long before you did. I'm not trying to knock you, but i think you've underestimated how much the general member on here knows.
The RA in stock form is fastest in sport Auto mode regardless of where you are racing. The simple fact you probably don't turn your asc off when racing on the street (again, really?) can to be used as proof to how much you have to learn. No human hand or mind or eye combination can shift as well or as fast as this transmission. By NOT shifting yourself, you gain the advantage over the opponent who has too, by limiting the chance of a shifting error.
Make no mistake my dear, this car stock is NOT fast. It is very middle of the road power wise, and being a the fatty it is, it ends up being rather under whelming. Racing an sti or evo on the street and beating it off the line only goes to show how bad of a driver your opposition was, or that perhaps they weren't even racing. Simply put, without brake boosting, this car is good for a 2.0 60' ft on a good day.
At any rate, i hope you stick around and do some research as there is a lot to learn. Your stock if stock (which it probably is) is only about 190 hp to the wheels. There are alot of us running over 300 hp at the wheels, who have tested the ins and outs of the transmission and car itself, and that could probably teach you a thing or 2, like, please don't street race, its just so childish and immature.

Every STI 2008+ is 305hp stock... but apparently your SUPERRRR AWESOME QUICK THINGZZZ VTAKKK VRAPPPPP RA somehow is faster than it stock... thats actually amazing! Please tell me where you got it
listen, just because the car was street tuned, doesnt mean it behaves differently than it would on the track. the car needs to put the power to the wheels and make it go across the ground; unless of course you have found some way of making it hover over city streets. no matter where or how you tune, the car will drive the same on the same tune
and to clarify on topic, you want torque for the launch, not horsepower.
