I put in my AEM intake and I was incredibly disapointed, until we diagnosed and found one of the holes in the intake wasn't completely drilled out. It was giving false readings to the wastegate and I was loosing 10 psi.

I'm sure this has been written up before, I'm not the only one but I can't believe that AEM let this through, I thought they would have better quality control.

Time to revive this old thread :P

I just installed an AEM intake kit on my 2010 RA. Indeed, the clamp that attached the lower tube on the turbo was a real pain in the *** to loosen!

I notice a clear increase in power, and the sound is awesome! I really enjoy hearing the turbo spool up from inside the car!

I did did get a little bit worried though when I noticed it was not as smooth anymore when idling, and as I researched it I came across a lot of posts in this forum regarding the AEM intake making the car run a lot leaner. Now I got worried at first, researching the increase in AFR some ppl have seen at WOT, comparing it to the stock WOT AFR. Naturally I don't want to get knocking and ruin my engine.

But reading through this thread, and judging from the info on the AEM website, I got a little bit calmer since it truly seems like you can run this intake with the stock tune. Sure, it makes it run a little bit leaner, but it doesn't seem to me that I would face any big risks by not tuning my car for this intake. Mind you, this is the only mod I have on my car at the moment.

Any thoughts from someone more experienced with running this intake on the RA is appreciated!

Do a couple more key mods and then you can download this FREE badass tune and get some REAL power increases.

Just be careful with the local tuner. If your tuner doesn't bother touching the SST tables, it could ruin your transmission. Have to make sure the tuner is familiar with the SST platform.

They should be since they are the leading evo tuner in Sweden

Any ideas on the AEM intake with stock tune from anyone?

Been running the AEM intake (evo intake pipe + AEM filter, not the AEM kit) with stock tune for 3-4 years now. No issues. Not too many proper tuners here (and the US maps obviously aren't compatible with EU cars) so I haven't even bothered to try to get one.

[EDIT] specified intake type
