Are there any clearance issues with the strut bar? I have a Cusco strut bar fitted and I'm concerned that the bar might foul the top of the air box....

From the pictures I don't see it being any higher then the Upper Intercooler Pipe. you shouldn't have any issues from what I could see.

So in all seriousness, how much can this really do over a K&N drop-in. I mean it still uses the snorkel, and has a box... don't wan't to spend $250 on something that doesn't offer any real benefit....

By looking at the data posted on the AEM site it appears that this intake makes quite a bit more power over any drop in filter.

I think for anyone who plans to stay on stock tune it's a good upgrade for the price.

If you read through all the threads on here and on clubralliart about this intake you'll find the info as to why it makes so much more power over a drop in while still using the stock snorkel.

I bought one but have yet to install it. It's a very nice quality looking piece with quite a few parts. I cannot believe how cheap they can sell these kits and yet still make a profit.

On another note I probably will be selling the one I have since I bought a new car and intend to sell mine to carmax or trade it in at the dealer which neither want any of my aftermarket parts. So if anyone is interested in mine for $225 hit me up. It's still new in the box!

Anyone planning on doing pulls on the dyno to verify AEM's claimed performance gains?

Meh, I went ahead and bought one. I got to reading AEM's documents on how they developed it and they convinced me. Should work well with the RAD lite...

Last week I recieved my AEM Intake and I installed It right away. During the Install I noticed that the kit came with a plastic 1/4" barbed breather line fitting that screws into the Air Inlet Pipe. This fitting on the intake raised some questions for for me. I first installed the plastic 1/4" breather line fitting into the air inlet pipe like the instructions said and I put the clamp on the hose to secure it. I gave it a little tug to see if it was secure and it simply pulled off... I then realized that the breather line hose from the back of the Crank Case is a 3/8" hose... SOOO I said to myself "why did AEM give me a 1/4" barbed fitting rather then a 3/8" barbed fitting for the inlet pipe?" Very odd. So I took the plastic part and got a friend to drive me to Canadian Tire and I picked up a 3/8" Brass fitting to replace the 1/4" fitting and it fit perfectly into the inlet pipe and I could secure my crank case breather line to the air inlet pipe using the stock clamp with a bit more confidence.

Anyone else run into this problem? Or have a reason why AEM used a 1/4" plastic fitting instead of a Brass 3/8" fitting to match the 3/8" breather line hose from the Crank Case?

BTW I have a Canadian RA not sure if that makes a difference but it could?

Over all, besides going to the auto store to get a brass 3/8" breather line fitting to fit the stock 3/8" breather line hose from the crank case and replace the 1/4" plastic fitting the Install we smooth and I am VERY please with the boost in power and in fuel economy over my K&N DIY Intake that was sucking in hot engine bay heat. However, I did lose abit of my turbo spool noice but that was expected. I'll trade it for the power any day.

Canuck.

bought this intake earlier today and started installing it at 3... its been 4 hours now and im so frustrated that i didnt even finish it . i had the same exact problem as u but even my 1/8th hose on the top right didnt fit on tight, it slides right on and off.. i got the 3/8th piece after reading ur post an hour again and got that on securely. i also did not get a clamp that holds the filter on behind the box.

one of the main reasons it took me so long was the lower intake pipe took 45mins since the hose clamp was turned upside down for some dumb reason and every time i tried to get a wrench in there the waste-gate actuator kept blocking me so i had to get an extension and do 1 click at a time with the wrench..

I also installed my AEM intake this weekend... It wasn't too difficult, about 1 1/2 hours. I also had the problem with the breather line and had to get an brass 3/8" fitting. I agree the angle of the clamp on the stock lower intake pipe is a *****. Luckily I had a friend with small hands help out.

For those of you running the GST Basemap or any tune, be careful. It leaned my car out quite a bit... I was at about 10.2 AFR at WOT and now I'm around 12.1... I'm no tuner, so I can't say whats safe and whats not, but I'm staying out of it until I can get into a tuner... Anyone who knows more able to say whats considered "safe" at WOT?
