had my 2010 RA aligned friday. they told me i had to pay an extra $20 cause my car has a computer controlled steering system that they have to program when doing the alignment. is this true???

 

Other than the steering angle sensor that tells the AWC and ABS what angle your steering is at, no there is no computer control or input involved at all.

 

should it cost more because we have that?

How much did u pay total? Typical awd alignment is 80-120 here

 

normally $75 but had to pay $95

 

well if awd alignment is more expensive maybe that is why the extra fee and the guy that wrote me up just didnt know what the extra fee was for.

 

i just paid 86 after tax...they told me it was 75 for 2wd and 99 for 4wd...sooo idk haha

 

Sounds like a standard AWD alignment price to me. Costs $95 plus tax to do it here in Canada.

 

All alignments are on all 4 wheels, no matter what the drivetrain. You got upsold on something thats BS, however you didnt pay any more than normal so its not as bad as it could have been.

 

I'm not so sure about that. It's extremely difficult to impossible on some cars to make adjusts to the rear wheels because of how the rear axle is mounted on leaf springs...

 

I paid $85.00 for mine a month ago...

 

I could list a gazzilion cars that you cant adjust the rears on and all of them are fwd
And rwd you can adjust all 4 wheels. some awd can be a real ***** to adjust thats why most joints wont bother with anything under 5mm in adjustment for the rear and simply wont touch it. Iam not sure what the specs fro a ra lancer are but i dare say there with me a 5mm + or - buffer
