EVO or RA?
prolly not, but the 8/9 system is really good to. I'd take better everything else and slightly inferior awd system over inferior everything else and better awd system... but thats just me
Back in 2009 I settled for the Ralliart, 11mos later I purchased a 2010 EvoX. It nagged at me everytime I drove the car that with the money I'd have to spend to get it to hang with a stock Evo I could just have the Evo.
Also I saw it mentioned that the Ralliart has the EvoX drivetrain. This is untrue, the drivetrain in the Ralliart is based on the Drivetrain in the Evo IX. So no matter how much money you throw at the Ralliart it'll never be an X.

I've been on the fence with buying a evo for awhile now - I'd consider the RA IF they had offered it with a manual, but they don't, so Evo it will be. I wish they offered the GSR package in the sportback...
You can only do so much with the Ralliart. It's not a manual just like Dangina said. I guess it depends on what you want. But there is a reason that the Evo X is the top of the line Mitsubishi model and the Ralliart is not.
I had a 2008 MR and have a 2011 GSR. There isn't a night and day difference.
However, there are minor updates that are worth noting. Updated timing chain, updated diff pins, updated exhaust, texture wrapped wheel, fixed staple issue on recaros, updated tune from the factory, updated disc brakes (from the 08 gsr), and ralliart / black tailights, color hud.
Not to mention you get a warranty (long as you don't mod it) with a new car, and you can most likely kiss a warranty from
good bye on a used one

this might **** off alot of RA guys, but the RA is just another boring car in my book. personally if i ever got an RA (never even considered it) i'd always be wishing it was an evo... RA is kinda a poser car in my opinion
if price is an issue just get a used 8 or 9, worlds better than an RA, some would even say better than a X

Regardless, I still insist to the OP... you WILL regret getting a Ralliart knowing you could've waited a little more for the Evo X instead... I know, I've been there.

The Lancer Ralliart Sportback's AWD system is essentially identical to the setup in the previous-generation Evo. It also includes the Active Center Differential, but uses a mechanical limited-slip rear differential in place of the AYC differential.
The other thing I wanted to mention. I spent months looking for a used Evo VIII or IX for my wife. She wanted one badly. Either A) They were salvaged. B) They had a ridiculous price tag on them. C) Beat to hell. D) All of the above.
It's very difficult to find a used CT9A that is worth buying now days. When you're getting into the +24k range for a used 6-8 year old car, it's time to look at something new imo.
