Intercooler grill replacement

Driving in this treacherous weather today, some pieces falling off a semi truck hits the front of my car snapping off the lower honeycomb grill in front of the intercooler. Can this part be ordered at the dealership separate? Fortunately my ralliart's front end is still okay and my undercarriage/splash shield is okay.

Mitsubishiparts.net (forum vendor) has that part for what appears to be about $32.

Item 27 in the above diagram.

You should be able to get it from your local dealer.

Thanks nunyas, I'll call the dealer to see if they have it in stock or if they have to order it. Also do I have to remove the whole bumper to install this or can I just undo the splash shield to get to it?

You should be able to just undo the splash shield from underneath to get to it, but bumper cover removal would make it easier (naturally).

I can't remember off the top of my head if the fasteners for it are on the front or back. So, you might not need to undo the splash shield to remove it...

Wait a minute.. The lower grille mesh? You dont need to take the bumper or splash shield off of it.

You just have to slide it in the opening and the top of the grille has two holes that fit in between the metal frame of the car and the bumper. Then just pull the grille toward the front of the car so it clicks into each clip and bolt in the two holes.

It seems a lot easier than I can explain... I'll find a link to it.

Directions from a forum on removing the chrome nose ring. But one step of it is where you take out the bottom mesh, Just follow the following directions backwards to get it out.

2. Then, Remove the two Screws holding the BOTTOM MESH in place: this is located Right on the center of the Chrome Piece

3. Once The Two big screws are OUT, Start by pushing the BOTTOM MESH towards the inside of the Vehicle. (It is attached by Clips, it will not break **Note: Im not saying push as hard as u can.. just push spot by spot). When You finished uncliping all of the Bottom Mesh, lift the Center Piece of the bumper towards you (just a little bit) so we can take the Bottom Mesh OUT.

I might have to take the splash shield off because the lower grille mesh is sheared off in places and I might need pliers to pull the clips off if they are part of the lower grille assembly.

If I were you I would try to do it without taking the whole splash guard off and then worst case, go ahead and remove it. Theres a decent amount of space to work between the intercooler and bumper.

Good luck

Well I put the new one on and I finally had the time to wash the car too. After washing the car, I noticed abrasive scratches on my hood from the many pieces that were flying at me that one day, PIIIIISSSSSSS!!! My scratch remover doesn't work on it. I don't know if my local dealer will cover it under warranty!
