Does the RA have a simpler version of the Evo X's AWD?

Or is it a completely different system altogether? I've read online that it was lifted from the Evo IX but couldn't find anything to back up forum talk...

^true. there is confusion due to early press releases saying 'EVO IX components'

AFAIK it is a RA-specific part and 'simpler' (cheaper) than the EVO X unit.

front differential and transfer case are exact same as the evo x mr. The rear differential is something else. The ralliart rear is a mechanical limited slip diff while the evo has active yaw control diff.

Wonder how hard it would be to install an Evo X diff in the RA.

Transmission is same as MR except for gear ratios. Transfer case is same as MR with ACD and all.

Rear diff is *like* the USDM Evo 8/9 because it does not have AYC like the Evo 10 Therefore it doesn't have "SAWC". However it is a different physical unit then the Evo 8/9. This also makes it stronger than the Evo 10.

Pretty sure they can't handle a lot of power. Also from reviews they are not very good in a slalom course

Interesting, thanks for the info.

Completely anecdotal, but my previous car had in it's final model years a very early implementation of an electronic rear limited-slip differential (0-100%). Lockup wasn't as smooth and predictable as the completely mechanical LSD found in older models, so it was often 'downgraded' to the older model's setup.

Sometimes simpler is better
