OK, so I ordered my Tactrix cable and it should be here early next week. Reading up on related subjects, trying to get my head around what needs to be done.

Initially just a GST basemap on stock car since I don't have a pill picked out/ordered yet. Soon I hope. But as I look around I don't see 2013 files yet!

Looks like its a waiting game now since I'm still too newb to do anything but wait!

 

Went about ordering a pill. Initially I had hoped to get a GST pill as I had hoped to use that map, but it doesn't seem that GSTs website lists anything for sale anymore. And GSTs account on here has been suspended?

Reading abit more it doesn't seem like there is any difference in boost pills(someone please correct me if I'm wrong) so I looked into an AMS. Oddly enough Amazon sells them with free shipping. Can't beat that!

What website did you use to order the cable? That has to be my next investment.

 

http://www.tactrix.com I see some for sale on ebay or other sites but they are more expensive than it would be direct from them.

Also I had a couple of questions/issues with the shipping and within a couple of minutes they replied, resolved this morning. Those guys are great.

I guess the next thing for me is looking at a replacement hose. I think I would rather replace the pill on a new hose, and keep the other one around in case I ever need to get it back to factory. In one of the threads I was reading they had the part number and price, was under $20. Now I just gotta dig around and find the part number again....

Thank you Slee. I had seen the part number, 1632A300 before but I was having a hard time finding it again. Turns out it was in the thread you posted and originally in the how-to for installing the boost pill. I'll call the nearest Mitsubishi dealer and see if they stock it before trying an online source.

Edit: Local dealer wanted $28.20 for it. Twice as much as online but shipping online is $10.

 

Ok, well I got the Tactrix cable, OBD II extension cable, and a 1632A300 replacement hose. The boost pill is MIA, but most likely will be here on Monday.

Now I've gotta look up a tutorial on ECUFlash and figure out how to use it. Must admit I'm getting a little nervous, but I guess that must be normal.

 

That's normal, lol. Be nervous - it will keep you focused, and make you triple-check everything!

And try to breathe as you flash for the first time. It takes a good while to flash, and holding your breath for that long could be harmful to your health.

Thanks Rich! Still gonna be a bit before the flash. Today's goal is just reading the ecu ROM since no 2013 files exist yet.

Reading over the evoscan forum there is a thread about a guy who just reading his ROM is now stuck with a car that won't start! Jebus not what I needed to be reading! But meh, still under warranty and just got the road side assistance cards. So hopefully it is true that god looks over babies and idiots....
