Reverse lights help!!

I recently purchased LED's to replace the reverse lights. Had it on for a few days then realized they don't work anymore. Put the OEM lights back on and those don't work also. Can someone please help me...?

Check your fuses, you might of blown one.
If not, swap the polarity of the bulb (put it in upside down)

I've checked the fuses and reversed the lights as well. Still no luck...

Did you splice in a resistor to address the LED's low-draw nature? Did you use a vampire tap? You might have accidentally cut one of the wires. If the car doesn't see enough of a load the circuit cuts out after a second or two.

I did not splice nor use a tap. It was just a plug and play bulb.

I've checked the fuse for the reverse lights underneath the dash board with a test light and it works fine. I used the test light on the wiring for the backup lights (car was on and in reverse) and no electricity is at the pigtail for the reverse light bulbs. Any ideas, suggestions, or anything at this point would be greatly appreciated, this is driving me crazy.

I suggest that you don't screw around with any of your lights from here on out. It's just stupid lights for Pete's sake, put your money into power and performance mods! Wish I could help you more with your current problem though.

Ya I know.. It was just an inexpensive thing to do for my friend and I, now both of our reverse lights do not work. And my backup sensors don't work either..

So fuse 18, 7.5A is good? That circuit powers the Shift Lever Position Sensor, its CPU, and the Reverse light switch, which then passes the current back to turn the reverse lights on. If the CPU doesn't sense the appropriate load on the reverse lights, it cuts them off after ~1 second. Hopefully you didn't fry that circuit.

Essentially, power is routed from that fuse to the shift lever. It'll be Pins 3 (output) and 4 (voltage in) in the 22 PIN connector at the shift lever.

How can I test it to find out if I fried that circuit?

If you have to ask, you should probably pay someone to fix it. Nearly everything is CAN bus and goes beyond just poking it with a volt meter in these cars. FWIW, there's no test procedure in the factory manual.

Just came across this. I was also interested in swapping my reverse lights for some ultra bright LEDs (so my parents can see when they drive my car).

Did you ever find a solution? If it's a CAN BUS system, you might be able to reset it by unplugging the battery and plugging it back in...

No resolution yet.... I tried unplugging the battery, changing fuses, and changing bulbs. Nothing has worked yet. When I find a solution I will definitely post it.
