Back up cam turns off after about 5 seconds
Hey guys. I ordered some new tail lights and after I installed them my back up camera stopped functioning properly. It turns off after a very short period of time after I put my RA in reverse. Im sure it has something to do with the leds in there when I put the car in reverse.
Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to rectify this issue other than putting my old tail lights back in?

Yes the whole assembly is leds. I had the problem with my last set when i tried to replace the standard bulb with led bulbs for backup. I just put the regular bulbs back in.
This set I am not able to change the bulb. They are completely sealed off.
I mainly just wanted to see if anyone knew of a solution with maybe using a resistor in there to maybe correct the voltage or something.

Oh. You changed the whole housing. I thought just changed to LED bulbs. Okay hmm... Take it to a shop would be my best guess and have resistors wired in if you dont want to change back. Otherwise just live without the backup camera.

Thanks man. I just wish I knew more about resistors and what kind to put on there. Guess Ill be researching this in depth. Ill post the result when I fix it so others wont have to look for the solution.
This is easier than you'd think.
Take your old tail lights and plug each side in one at a time IE.
Plug in your backup lights on both sides and try your backup cam. If the cam works as it should then that is the circuit you will need the resistors in.
The next step is to measure the resistance across that light bulb.(lets say 1k Ohms)
Then you would put that resistor in the hotline to the led light.
I'm gonna put a fiver on it being the backup light, its the only light that is on at any time you are in reverse.
To do this you will need some soldering and multi-meter experience.
If not, find a buddy who does and give him a six pack!
