That'd be great if you could. I'm doing the relocation this week and it would be a huge help. Thanks!

I want to emphasize the importance of safety when messing around battery wires, especially performing the relocation. Service manager mentioned a car that caught fire because the owner didn't properly shield his amp wire and it arced.

I took this as a sign and wrapped the distribution blocked with electrical tape to ensure I don't share the same fate.

I also want to add, since it's dark, I can't get a good picture right now. Best explanation is I've temporarily got my small battery on its side in the driver's side storage compartment of my trunk under the mats. I need to figure a more secure solution once I figure out where's a safe place to drill holes for the tie downs. Ideally, I hear it should be located on the passenger side for proper weight distribution.

Thanks Omegis, I understand your emphasis on the safety aspect. It certainly isn't something that should be overlooked. In my case, I have a qualified shop, well experienced with race bred Evo X's doing the relocation for me and I'm sure that all measures will be taken to secure it safely.

Your current solution sounds much like another RA I've seen posted on here (same battery and location). I'm looking to fit something as you have suggested, in the rear corner of the passenger side of the trunk. When all is said and done, I too will be posting pics to hopefully help other RA guys in the future.

I moved my battery to the trunk to the passenger side, i opted out of the small battery because i dont want to risk losing cranking amps so I have a yellow top optima. It sits in a plastic battery box with bolts running through the body, with some battery tie down devices doing the same so its not going anywhere. I ran two 0 gauge cables up the passenger side inside plastic lower panels then up and out of the factory wiring access hole. Yes making sure chaffing isn't a factor is super important due to the inaccessibility to 90% of the wiring.

Doesn't move much if at all, even for such a light Braille battery.

Also, about to go pickup and install my VIS Do Luck CF Trunk in a few. Stock trunk got scuffed up a while back, plus I like the wingless look.

DAMN! That trunk is sick, looks nice! The ONLY thing I regret about the Sportback vs Sedan, ability to have the do-luck trunk

Wait, is your battery not bolted down? Hope you don't get in an accident before you can bolt that thing down.

Highest priority for you is to secure that!

Secure it to the body - something like two bracket arms coming up "front" and "back" through from the bodywork below, and a crossbar fitting tight over the top.

Even that might not be sufficient with a severe side-on impact. It could come out laterally, to the right... straight through the surround. Perhaps a strong lateral strap?

Suggestions made with good intentions, mate. Just want to make sure you and your vehicle are as safe as possible.

Track-day scrutineering is another great reason to go OCD on fitment. Those scrutineers will swing on your battery like crazed baboons... not that crazed baboons give a monkey's about batteries. (did you see what I did there? )

That's where I need information. Drilling holes isn't an issue as long as I know what I'm drilling into. What's under that area? I'd hate to drill into something I need, like a fuel line.

No "how-to" available from my Google searches unless I look at older Evo setups. I'd be glad to take pics and create a much overdue write-up if someone can confirm it's safe to drill holes for tie-down points on the driver's side compartment.

I've also already got the tie-down bracket, battery box, and straps already.

Initially I planned on drilling and mounting my battery on the drivers side however the ease of access to the bolts just isn't there. I highly recommend doing it on the passenger side, its a bit more "user friendly" in that area. I think what is bellow the Drivers side is the ASC pump/control mechanisms but I cannot be 100% positive on that. I attached some pics of where mine is but I realize that some from the bottom whould be better I shall do my best to get some here soon.

Nice job. Mine looks almost identical to this, but on the opposite side. Passenger side for me is the left corner as I have a RHD car.
