how a 4b11t engine bay should look! without a silly big block battery!

Quote: Looking great! Just got my x turbo with 2k on it, coolant and oil lines, and stock manifold. Hoping to have everything else soon. One question, trying to decide on a aftermarket (AMS or UR) O2 DP or just stick with the stock o2 housing and re use my UR short DP. Are the AMS or UR ones worth the cost? Anyone use them on their swap?
it depends on how **** you are on getting every last bit. I think of DP's a turbo component rather than an exhaust. the stock X turbo only flows so much air. I think the ~$500 is better spent elsewhere

My opinion is if you already have the short DP, stick with that. Use the money to buy a battery relocation kit and use a proper intake, like the stock X air box or AEM.

Good advise. After seeing the power gains (or lack of) I think I will take your advise and move the brick under my hood to the trunk! Any pics of what you did with the positive and negative polls under the hood? How did you connect? Maybe I should scour a little longer before rambling.....

Here's where I got the kit:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G1200A/

Routed positive cable from the trunk, along the door trim, and through the wheel well into the engine compartment. Ground wire is connected to a convenient point in the trunk, just make sure to take a wire brush to your point if it's painted.

Distribution block is well hidden:

Before the question is asked, it doesn't interfere with radiator fan, LICP, intake, transmission, or BOV tube. And yes, it's super zip tied.

You missed the whole point of that post. With the MAP o2 dp, AND the same boost level, it achieved:

The gains are there and it's a great option for someone who is looking to upgrade the stock DP or someone with the extra cash flow to upgrade from the aftermarket short DP they may already own.

LOL i did copy the wrong chart

doesn't really change my opinion though. for the cost, I don't find it worth upgrading

I like to think of setups as a whole - don't see a point in putting a top-level premium upgraded downpipe on a standard oem-level turbo if that makes any sense. especially if budget-minded performance is a concern. I think $500 is better spent towards suspension/tires (too many RA's seem to ignore this, especially tires)

so the MAP downpipe mentioned is a great piece - I just think it's a bit overkill for the stock X turbo when price vs gains are compared. unlimited budget? sure get it, but I'd also be getting a bigger turbo if I had an unlimited budget too

I agree. If you already have the turbo installed totally not worth the price of replacing it. But if you are doing a turbo swap, everything is coming out anyways. For an extra $100-200 (over a different Evo DP) you can get rid of the factory o2 housing and increase to 3" piping (I went wide mouth with my set-up, as I don't plan on pushing much more than 400whp).

Tell me about (looking down at my shoes, towing the dirt). I FINALLY got real wheels and tires, if I could do it all over again they would have come much sooner in my build. I had saved up for them last December (2010 not 2011), but blew out 3 tires on 1 rainy weekend and had to get new rubber. Then I got frustrated and decided I wanted to get my monies worth out of them before changing set-ups.

On my way to work on a Friday morning I hit road debris on the off ramp of the freeway. Too large to patch, had to get a new tire. They were having a clearance on DWS, so I bought a full set. Rained all weekend, didn't really drive at all on the new rubber(maybe 5 miles total). Monday morning run down to the local gas station to get an energy drink....blow out both tires on my drivers side. Apparently the rain had eroded a rather massive pothole, and with a solid lake of dirty water covering the road I did not see it. Launched my car 4 feet in the car and blew out the side walls; more new tires..... 2 P-Zero Nero's and 2 DWS's

Quote: Battery relocation to the trunk complete. Wasn't that difficult. Out with the SRI, in with the stock X airbox. Ordered an AEM intake for the X and I'll install that when it arrives.
Hey Omegis,

Have you got any pics of the battery relocation you can share? I'd be real interested in seeing how it's set up in the trunk.

I'll try to post trunk pics soon. Car is at dealer right now getting a possible timing chain stretch issue looked at. Engine bay pics are a few posts up.
