Adjusting BOV Spring

I just installed the agency power bov, 50/50 I believe, just installed it the same way as I undid my stock ralliart bov.

I set the spring so the valve is fully closed at idle, the car seems to be running just fine. Went for a quick boot around the block and when shifting I hear no noise but when I left of the gas I hear it.

Is everything installed properly? I bought it used off evom so no instructions to go off of for adjustment.

Maybe it's not sent to release? (full recirc like the stock one?)

Do you lift before shifting in manual mode?

Should be fine, when you change the material from plastic to metal you're going to get more volume out of it... When you lift the pedal its just releasing. Not sure if you wanna run 50/50 on this car, but I'm new to the tuning of the RA.. So I'll stop here.

I've tried every brand of BOV on my Mazda and every single one sounds and behaves diff.

I don't know if it's full recirc or 50/50. I did not use the block off plate, so its for sure not ATM. What's the difference between 50/50 and full recirc when installed it? I installed it just like my oem was undone.

diff should be pretty obvious.. VTA is gonna discharge all the air into your engine bay, recirc goes back into the engine and 50/50 splits it up.. does it look like it has a hole to dump air into the engine?

Do you lift your foot off of the loud pedal before you switch gears...

You have never driven a manual, have you?

I removed the two hoses from my old bov, then put them on this agency power one (one on the bottom, one on the side, other side has nothing on it. You can see the valve) Also put the tiny hose from that goes on the top of the bov.

I previously had an SRT4, Spec V and Lancer SE all of which were 5 or 6 speed.

When I drive my RA hard in sport mode manual shift, I do not take my foot off of that gas while shifting, if that's what you're asking.

If you don't take your foot off of the gas, then you probably won't get any sound. I didn't notice any. It will likely only happen if you take your foot off of the gas.

okay thank you.

When at idle and the valve is fully closed does this mean recirc? and half open 50/50?

no, VTA, 50/50 and recir are ways you run the BOV...

recirc: same as stock...

50/50: some air goes back in engine/some dont, there would be a hole/bell housing(turbosmart) where you could see the piston moving a bit during idle...

VTA: no air goes backi nto engine.. youd have to eliminate one rubber hose to do this, so im pretty sure you havent done that..

^thanks.

Found this link: http://www.agency-power.com/blog/tec...-installation/

Picture 7 shows a cap which i assume is for full recirc. I did not get this peice with my bov, so i guess i'm running 50/50.

The valve won't open unless pressure gets higher than a certain level, this happens when you close the intake butterfly (i.e.: when you release the gas pedal).

On real manual transmission your usually release the gas pedal and pressure rises in the intake manifold triggering the valve, on the Ralliart since you don't have to do it, you don't hear the valve which is good, that means you maintain the pressure and that the MAF still gets the real measurement and your ECU can manage to keep your AFR around 11.6...

50/50 just means the valve has two outputs, one going back to the intake manifold past the MAF sensor and the other one going to air. (VTA and full recirc is just one output going either to atmosphere or to intake manifold).

FYI, open or close has nothing to do with VTA, recirc or 50/50 these are two different things...
