REQUEST: Coilovers and Swaybars

Hey guys. I'm in the market for coilovers and sway bars (front and rear). Are there How-To's for these parts for the '09+ Ralliart, or if someone has already done it, create a quick how-to to share with others in the community.

Even if someone feels it's easier to PM me some quick steps on how to do the job(s), I could just create a how-to myself when I'm finished. Thanks!

for coils, look at the spring how to's, just ignore the part about taking the springs and struts apart.

I've got a set of BC RAM's on the way. I was planning to do a little write up on a DIY way of getting the ride height dialed and alignment very close post install.... I can expand a bit and show the basics of the install and document the tools required etc.

Maybe in your DYI also include adjusting springs with the ride height, so as to not "bottom out" as I find is happening to me on rough roads

On youtube there's an How-to from RRM on lowering springs... should be the similar procedure for our RA... (to be confirmed)..

as far as I know ... the top of the rear suspension is completely hidden by the chassis... make sure you get the damping force set before putting it back

Yup, but thats kind of impossible... to set it before you drive it since you won't know which way you need to adjust to dial in the shock setting....

Seriously though, I get your point, set them bot the same before installation (like 1/3 stiff from full soft).

Hmm, what coils overs are you running? What spring rate? What ride height (drop vs stock)?

I don't plan to slam the sportback, Drop will probably only be between 1 and 2 inches from stock with a tad bit of rake (front end a little lower than rear). So... I don't foresee having any issues with bottoming.

I have the BC type BR's. Used the stock setting for ride right (rear is pretty damn low). By "bottoming out" I might be using the wrong phrase; I'm not talking about the actual bottom of the car hitting the ground (speed bumps, etc). The coilovers feel maxed out for the springs themselves; for instance when driving on the freeway, and there is a slight buckle between 2 sections of the road, the rear suspension seems to "slam" going over it, and the front is nowhere near that bad. Does that make sense? FYI the dampener is set to full soft for all four corners.

Do you have a SB? Its way more complicated then drill a hole. There are ATLEAST 2 separate parts of the rear towers that would need to be "drilled" through. The tower itself and a metal "cap" for lack of a better word; cant get in-between the two to see if there is anything else

Hey toredefined. I will shoot you over an install guide for coilovers in a week or two when I get my HSD coilovers installed. I have pushed HSD to make coilovers for the lancer and ralliart for about a year. And I finally got my wish, our local car club has a group buy on for them now and are going to make an HD quality video from start to finish. Ralliart has been neglected by the aftermarket when it comes to options.

Keep you in the loop.
