Thanks Chris, those pics are way better than what I've taken.

Steve, that should clarify, lol, it's the hex head bolts that you need to remove, which is where the banjo bolts are installed in Chris' second pic.

It's pretty easy to get ahold of a set of used oem lines, but a cooler is a whole different story. I'm still trying to find one in good shape without having to buy it new from work, lol. Even our internal cost is just stupid-high for a damn oil cooler.

Hey no problem tryin to figure this out too. Also the other fittings are called eyebolts or banjo bolts
Part # 1225A006 $13 on lancershop.com

Also noticed these parts under lancershop is labeled as evo8/9/x oem part. So does evo 8 use the same cooler set-up as the evo x?

Let me know if you get hold of a extra set of oem lines could use them. As for the I cooler will figure that out next and not buy a new oem one...about $500 .

Yeah, I wasn't very clear. I was trying to say it's the hex head plugs in my pics and your first pic, where the banjo bolts are showing in your second pic.

Will do. If I end up finding a decent used cooler setup that comes with the lines I'll let you know.

In Australia, Mitsu price over the counter... around $900! ...add another $400 if you want the hoses too!

Why not just get a Mocal or Setrab cooler?

Chris,
Thanks for those pics! I was looking at the bolts 90* to the filter, didn't realize it's the ones above it, now I see how it all works. Assuming either one can be in/out; any reason they would be directional dependent?

This is great! Seems like the X oil cooler will bolt right up.

No reason not to, I suppose, just need to get the proper threaded adapters and you'll be good. I just figure the OEM setup would be easiest to duplicate in terms of routing, mounting, and everything else since it's already being used in the Evo.

That is the tstat.

FYI. The Euro RA's (Non Aussie) have oil coolers from the factory. I've been looking into it. I'm not sure if they just had them for the first year or for all years.

Also, the oil coolers fit with the OEM washer bottle, just like ours.

Here are some photos for reference:

Jeez, the washer bottle is just stupidly big. Exactly how much window washing fluid did they think we really needed? With that amount of soapy fluid, you could wash the car, the dog and the kids. And your windscreen.

But... brilliant information in this thread. Thanks!!! It's quite a revelation to see pics of a stock RA with oil cooler. If only it wasn't costed at $1600 for all new parts, over-the-counter (in Oz, ripoff central for car bits).

After-market cooler, methinks. But those Mitsu stock brackets look very useful!!!

I like the idea of easy OEM install of a oil cooler. I did notice there are maybe 3 x's being parted out in the forsale section, has anyone looked to sees if there was an OEM one being sold off one of those cars might have to nab it before anyone else lol

Yeah, they're all gone already, lol. I've been keeping watch... Also, the ones on eBay are tranny coolers, not engine oil. I've asked about those too...
