it's been a busy racing season and i didn't have much time to update the progress of the car. race season is finally over and now i have time update some stuff.

Due to the point assignment of NASA TT on shocks, i felt that mod points are better spent else where other than shocks. the Ohins RT shocks were worth 8 points because shaft larger than 40mm and inverted. The AST shocks were worth only 3 points. that gives me 5 mod points to use else where.

i did 6 track days on the Ohlins before switching to AST back in July this year. the spherical bearing on the Ohlins top hat were worn and were clunking but doesn't seem to effect the performance though. The Ohlins are Vishnu/Gerrard spec and had 475 front and 575 rear springs. I went with 10k front, 12k rear for the AST. when i'm not on track i set the shocks to full soft. the Ohlins felt a little smoother over small cracks on the highway. but on track, the dampening felt similar with both shocks. the biggest different was the deduction in body roll with the stiffer springs on the AST. also, the AST only has 11 click adjustment, so you can fell the difference with each click. the Ohlins has 25 clicks or so and you have to turn several clicks to fell the difference.

the Swift springs are thinner and shorter than the HyperCo springs on the Ohlins, so they were lighter. the whole shock package with springs and top hats were about the same weight between Ohlins and AST though.

if points wasn't an issue, i would still use the Ohlins due to the inverted design. I'm thinking of moving up to TTS next year, which means i won't have restriction on shocks.

TougeFactory helped me out with a set of Stance prototype camber/caster plates. these should be available at he end of the year.

i decided to use the spherical bearing plate from the Works camper plate since it had a lower profile. i had to cut a notch in it to fit the Stance camber/caster plate. and i also removed the new spherical bearing from the Stance since the one on Ohlins were worn. they were exactly the same size.

i think TougeFactory said they were able to get over 5* of total caster with the camber plates. i never got my car align after the install, i just set it to max caster.

first season went great. i had to get used to the fact that i can throw the car around more since it's awd

i was playing around with different setup and how to maximize my mod points usage at every event. i'm moving up to TTS next year, so i'll have less restriction on what i can do with the car, just have to maintain 8.7:1 weight/power ratio. no restriction on aero and suspension. should be fun
