Can a "shift cut" be programed?

Say you have a dogbox with a sequential shifter (I know dream world).

With the EMS is there anyway to set up a "shift cut"? Meaning allow an interuption in ignition during shifting which would allow clutchless full throttle shifting.

I am pretty sure you can set up no lift shifting with the EMS but this is a little different. It would be a switch of some sort that is triggered at the shifter lever. The switch would have to be wired into the EMS (Just like a sensor is). The EMS would need to be programmed to cut ignition for X amount of seconds each time the switch is triggered.

Can this be done with the EMS?

Ooops I think I misread your post. I thought you were referring to a NLTS.

Why don't you set your ignition cut Rev limiter to the desired RPM and shift then?

Because this is for a road racing evo, so I won't be shifting at the same exact rpm's every time.

Thanks.

So you would rather hit a switch than step on the clutch? I'm trying to picture a time in road racing where you would need to shift relatively quick and not be at near the rev limit. Could you please explain a little better what it is you are trying to accomplish, with an example?

Autronic and Motec both have this feature. They use a gear strain sensor and some adjustable parameters in the software to tailor the shifts to your needs.

Thanks. I am hoping the EMS can do this as I just bought a 1320u.

The switch would be built into the shifter lever. Talking about a seq lever back to upshift and fwd to down shift. So any time you move the shifter to change gears it would trigger the switch. Again the switch would have to be wired into the EMS.

I guess my question first is can you wire in a switch to the EMS?

If this is possible then does the EMS have the ability to cut the ignition for x amount of seconds each time the switch is triggered?

Thanks!

n2mb racing has installed their brand new prototype WOT box in my car (wide open throttle box)...its a microprocessor controlled box which senses TPS and clutch engagement. The system taps into your spark plug wires and when the car is wide open throttle and when you press the clutch in (ie no lift shift) the system cuts the ignition for set amount of milliseconds. The advantage of this is that it will keep you in boost in between shifts and it will also slow down the input shaft enough so that the gears go in as if the car was off. Also it will let you keep you foot planted on the gas for no lift shifting

there is also a cool side effect with the system....since the ignition is cut and fuel is still being dumped into the engine....after you shift you usually get a huge flame/fireball out of the exhaust

If you are interested in this please contact Jay from N2MB racing:
