can you get engine misfires with a fuel map looking like that?

lol..geez, how the heck can someone possibly tune a car that bad. These fuel/ignition maps are horrendous.

After seeing alot of the maps posted as well as the map from my own car,I questioned the tuner of the map i posted above about his not using boost comp or knock control and this was his response:

Now Steve thinks "Boost Comp" is the all knowing tuning table... not so, it would work great if this was a supercharged engine but it is not. As for a knock sensor... just a band aid for not tuning correctly. I have never used one and will not.

i got some input from a different tuner(very very well known tuner in honda community) about boost comp this is what he said

"boost comp" is just a form of compensation that AEM uses. It can be used, or you can do w/o. There really is not benefit in one way over another besides ease of tuning. Tuning a "boost comp" setup is quicker and easier, but not as accurate. Since it works on the basis of 'double air/double fuel', when you double manifold pressure, it doubles the amount of fuel going in to achieve the same a/f ratio. That's great, IF you want the same a/f ratio all the way up, which you generally don't, and if you have the same pressure ratio from intake to exhaust pressure at all boost levels, which is impossible. For those reasons, even a "boost comp" tune, will not be setup like 90% of people's "boost comp" maps because a linear interpolation with boost will not be accurate.

So, yes, it can be tuned either way and if done correctly, there is no benefit in one over the other.

To say it's not right if not tuned with a boost comp is just ignorance.
any other tuners have any input on this?

Boost compensation is a great tuning strategy, the reason why it works so well is because it gives you much deeper resolution into precise fuel tuning. This allows you to use a much lower MicroSec/bit rate without worry of running into your 255 adjustment points.

No offense but I don't think the person above has the the full idea of boost comp at grasp, the double air double fuel theory is true at the start but what he is not telling you or just failing to realize is that you can still adjust your fuel map at any point (load or RPM) so it isn't a 1:1 value. This is no different that how you tune a fuel map without a boost comp style map, in other words not every load point has to be the exact same value at any given rpm or load. All boost comp does i applies a known base fuel value for every load and rpm so you get the ability to have more resolution (be able to make smaller adjustments) without worry of hitting your max 255 adjustment points. So with that said it states the point of why it can be better in all situations regardless of your other variables. If a person can't get their head around this they really need to stop and do some testing and look at the data.
