i have bought the radioshack cable n the one from best buy. no luck with ethier

hey, in order to connect online with your car the key HAS to be in the on possition. ( that means turn the key until all the lights on the dash board come on) Then the lap top can connect to the aem. Now be sure to select serial and not usb. Eventhough you are useing a usb to serial adapter the aem is still a serial connection. If you choose usb it will never connect.

Make Sure Your Connection Is Set To Serial Even Though Your Using Usb It Should Work
& Also You Need The Driver Installed On Your Computer Xp Shoul Drecognise It Though

What happens if you already choose usb but it doesn't show up serial. Like that option doesn't pop up anymore it just tries to connect on its on when it asked you if you wnat to connect or work offline. It doesn't give you the option to choose anymore. How would you be able to change your connection.

you have to go up to aem pro in top left to ecu then connection port. select serial and then in drop down look for serial cable to usb converter and select it.
