Help me guys..... I need to de-tune my AEM
I'm taking my car Monday to get it repaired from getting rear ended Sat night
Anyway, I don't want those guys thrashing my car when they get it. Can anyone please tell me how to set the max rpm to maybe 3000?
I think setting the rev limiter really low would work like a valet mode and I would not worry about some fool driving the crap out of my car while they have it.
If any of you could give detailed instructions about how to accomplish this or some other way to prevent the engine from operating at full power, I'd be most appreciative.
Please bear in mind that I really do not know much about the AEM EMS and I'm afraid of screwing things up so please give me explicit instructions. I do have a laptop and I do know how to hook it up to the AEM, but that's it. I don't know how to save whatever changes I make or how to restore it later to it's original configuration.
Thanks in advance,
Manuel

in the aem pro software you will see a row of buttons near the top of the screen. one of them looks like a tach with the needle pointing to redline. click on that one
the revlimiter template should come up. thats where you set the revlimiter. change it to whatever rpm you want, but dont change the rates.....

Just to make sure, after I change the rpm to maybe 3500, I should go to "file" and "save as" and name it "valet" or something, upload it? Is` there some thing I should do before uploading like opening that file in the laptop? I'm sorry if I sound silly with these questions, but I really do not want to screw up something or fail to get the program I want in the ECU.....
thanks again,
Manuel
if you change it while connected to the ems then you dont need to save it and upload, its real time..... just change it before you drop it off, then remember to change it back when you pick the car up.

Of course, I told the insurance ppl that the car was not to be driven at over 3500 rpm, etc, etc. They made notes and all that but I suppose some joker is likely to take it and try to reg the engine. They are in for a surprise
When the car hits 3500 it bucks, stalls and backfires like crazy
Oh yeah, to effect the changes you need to plug in the numbers and hit the "enter" key. That changes and saves the changes.
Thanks again, and thanks to Andy at Boost Solutions for walking me through it.

I would highly recommend that you warn the dealership that you have put a "fail safe" on the car and it shouldn't be driven. Drop the car off the way you are talking about and you may end up with some mechanic ripping into the car and trying to find the problem.
