Guys please keep the discussion on the EVO alive and going.
The Info that I CAN share with you as I heard this from my local dealer:
50 Cars coming in this month - 10 to press, 40 to public
20 in July
20 in August
10 in Sept
Power-upgrade - maybe... more likely down the track as with accessories.
Price - under $65 - closer to $62-63
SPEC:
Full Euro Spec, so no climate control and the such.
More details can be found here: http://www.mitsubishi-evolution8.com/
If anyone can offer further information from their dealers, please do. They should be getting all their info in the next few days.
Cheers

As previously posted, this is our interior as based on the UK Evo:
On the arm rest and the seats: The black is a suede leather, very nice. The blue is a material weave.
The Middle dash and door inserts are blue - same as the seats.
The gearbox is a 5 speed, as pictured above.
If my dealer is right in saying that we have the no-climate control console, Single Din Stereo slot (I have no idea on the stereo choice, most prob not the one pictured).
Between the Gear stick and handbrake, you can see the Intercooler Spray Button (Auto and Manual).
ACD button and mirror controls are on the top right, behind the steering wheel.

Once again something that we miss out on as the STI has a 6 CD changer installed as a factory system.
These are the only Eclipse units I can find:
http://www.tweeter.com/family/index....466&cp=1247217
I'd be nice if we got the CD8443, but I am sure it will not be... oh well, let's hope the car still goes well...
I hope that they get the lights (red) right for the stereo.

More speculation:

The lights look blue to me
What to do with the double DIN alpine CD/MD and 6 changer sitting in my garage at the moment? Maybe cut a new hole in the dash? That'd do it and it'll look spiffy too.

No semi climate control and other fancy things that are going on the car.
What i am really worried about now is the performance!!!!! 0-100 in 6.1 in a brochure is very very worring!!! respectivly is the 1/4 time of 14.1!
But the main issue here is- dont brochures usally have lower time than the car can actually perfom or performed in peak conditions??

Check th UK evo site out:
http://www.mitsubishi-cars.co.uk/evolution/range.asp
The FQ 260 will be the Closest to our TOTALLY detuned Evo. 260hp equalls 193kw - so almost the same. They are quoting 6.1 sec 0-62mph (0-100km/h)
Now goto the FQ 300 - about 220kw, this is quoted at 0-100 km/h in 4.8 secs
From there the specs keep going up. Now I agree!!! We are getting JIPPED by getting only a 195kw car, but that is not the fault of Mitsubishi.
STI have to the same with their cars. The STI and FQ 260 are the exact same weight, but the STI is quoted for the 0-100 in 5.45sec, basically exactly the same specs. We all know the Evo holds boost longer and comes in earlier. So, why are the cars quoted as being so bloody slow?!
I have a friend with a MY04 STI, did the 1/4 in 13.61 seconds - complete Stock car.
Although it is not Mitsu's fault for having to detune the cars, it is a problem that we do not get access to the Power-UPgrade to bring us to the FQ-320 (235kw) - 0-100 in 4.6sec.
To get anywhere near the Evo's SAFE potential (by this I mean the same output and speed of a complete Stock UK or Jap Evo8), we have to go and spend extra $$$ and void our warranty.
I have to now ask this question:
For a car that is $5k more than an STI, with less features than an STI (climate control, 6CD stacka, anti-hi-jack, aluminium pedals, etc...) and SLOWER than an STI what are we getting????
I am all for the Evo.
I WANT an Evo.
I am willing to Pay for an Evo.
I have always stood up for the Aus spec Evo, but for $68k where is the money going?
If we didn't want these cars why would we wait for over 6 months?
In short I would like value for money, please Mr Mistubishi?
I am crossing my fingers, toes and anything else with the hope that we will get the power upgade (which SHOULD be included in the $5k more than the STI).
I am praying and buying bits of superstitous ornaments that we all get the car colour that we paid our deposit for.

The Upside for not getting the Climate control is that it leaves the spare tray space for the Ralliart dials - providing we can get access to them.
Make note that the stereo is an Eclipse Stereo - so we may have our first image - yay!
These are some nice accessories I would love to have - providing they dont cost an arm and a leg.
The dials unde the climate control
The Aluminium pedals
The Gear Knob - alum (I could live without this one)
The Hand brake - alum

What annoys me now is I don’t want to have any troubles with warranty!!!
Warranty was a MAIN reason for me to purchase such an expensive car i really dont want to tinker with it at all. I thought it was fast enough already and it was going to out perform most stock cars and most other worked cars on the road!!! If 6.1 0-100 is a ball park figure then a standard WRX will blow us off!!!!
Sell up your HSV FPV STi Get ready for Supercar speed at STi cash.
The HSV basher is back!”*
“The WRX is about to become cannon fodder.
The Evo era we almost missed is about to arrive –
and getting in its way could be very, very dangerous.”*
HA!!!!!can we hold that to them!!!

You say that the cars being detuned is not Mitsubishi's fault but then who is at fault? Mitsubishi were able to bring in the TME with the full 206kW and whatever torque they had (about 380Nm?) so why can't they do that this time? It seems like the USA will get full power and torque with the 2005 models?
Australia and Japan are both RHD and I don't think Australia's polution laws are very strict so we should be able to get the full Japanese spec lancers easier than, or as easy as, any other country. We don't have 100RON petrol but 98RON seemed to be ok for the TME's.
