Chris you were doing better every run. Every time you came through my section you were a little faster and a little smoother. You'll have this down in no time man!! Glad you liked it. I'm going to be running with you guys for now on now that my brother is comfortable driving by himself in his class.

 

Jose, feel free to hop in any time. Slicks will be on by next event. Assuming your Evo isn't as fast as mine on the straights, the numbers prove how your Star Specs can be a great benefit on such a twisty and complex course. You drove well.

Kevin, with my daily driver tires on, the car straight up spins all four tires when the boost kicks in. It is amazing and feels great. I can't say enough - it's an entirely different car! You did an amazing job on it and my only regret is not getting this done sooner. All I need now is a good set of tires and a few suspension adjustments to keep it flat and it'll be super fast.

That car was actually really clean, they guy said he bought it in San Fransisco and drove it back to Dallas. It is in mint condition, never had any accidents, and the paint was pretty awesome for a 20+ year old car.

Jose, after watching your videos i see every spot i was pussyfooting. i see at least 3-4 seconds i could have taken off with a better line, and smoother and harder throttle. I think next month I can do better. I just need to keep the car in off off and really push the tires to their limit. Every time I would start to slide I would panic and let off the gas. Jim told me as soon as I start to feel the car push to blip the throttle and it worked great. I had been letting off the throttle like a little girl.

Awesome! Yeah, I see where my 1 second or so I was looking for all day was hiding. I really wanted to squeeze out a 49 but 50.7 was all I could muster. Of course, I told you guys I felt my fastest run was on one of the timing light issues, atleast it felt the best. I was going to try to claim the 3.2 second lap time that was on the clock but I figured I wouldn't be able to pull it off.

 

Figured I would put a post up on here. It was great to see all the EVOs out this past weekend. If you are looking to get some more seat time there is a Texas Time Trials event this coming weekend.

Here was my fastest raw time for the weekend (a 48.9+1), and then a second video of when I just kinda started messing around for fun in the afternoon.

RULES:

National Street Tire Challeng events are sanctioned by Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and shall follow the current SCCA Solo rules except as noted below in these supplementary regulations.
Awards

Awards shall be awarded to the highest placed drivers in each class on the following basis.
One award for one to three entrants in a class; two awards for four to six entrants in a class; three awards for seven to nine entrants in a class; four awards for ten to twelve entrants in a class; five awards for thirteen or more entrants in a class.
National Street Tire Challenge events will offer 5 classes:

1. Front Wheel Drive (F)
   1. This class allows all front wheel drive cars running on "street tires" to compete. Entrants will display an "F" on their car for class. A "street tire" is defined under SCCA Solo Rule 14.3 (except 14.3.A).
   2. Entrants in F will be assigned an index to multiply their times with. All SCCA Solo Rule classes are allowed except the Street Touring Category classes (ST, STR, STS, STX, STU, any other ST class). The most current PAX/RTP index will be used to assign index.
   3. Cars entered in F must obey to the rules/modification rules of their assigned index of sections 13, 15, 16, 17 and 18 of the current SCCA Solo Rules.
2. Rear Wheel Drive (R)
   1. This class allows all rear wheel drive cars running on "street tires" to compete. Entrants will display an "R" on their car for class. A "street tire" is defined under SCCA Solo Rule 14.3 (except 14.3.A).

4. Muscle Car (M)
   1. This class is intended for RWD, large-displacement, heavily modified or customized vehicles up to and including non-stock engine/chassis combinations, inboard brakes, tube frames, etc.
   2. This class allows cars running on "street tires" to compete. Entrants will display an “M” on their car for class designation. A "street tire" is defined under SCCA Solo Rule 14.3.
   3. Entrants in M will be assigned an index multiplier of 0.910 for the purpose of calculating overall event results.
   4. Cars entered in M must obey one of the following rules/modification rules sets
      1. Optima Batteries Ultimate Street Car Invitational (OUSCI)
      2. Sections 18 of the current SCCA Solo Rules
5. Street Touring Shootout (ST)
   1. This class allows all SCCA Street Touring Category cars to compete. Entrants will display an "ST" on their car for class.
   2. Entrants in ST will be assigned an index to multiply their times with. Only SCCA Solo Rule Street Touring Category classes (ST, STR, STS, STX, STU, any other ST class). The most current PAX/RTP index will be used to assign index.
   3. Cars entered in ST must obey to the rules/modification rules of their assigned index of section 14 of the current SCCA Solo Rules.

This is shaping up to be an outstanding event! Pack up the wife and kids and/or pets, if you have them, and head on out in June for a Saturday of fun and sun.

Let me just summarize to everyone what this is -- basically it's a two day autocross event that brings in drivers from all around the state and neighboring states as opposed to just the local drivers you see at a typical local event.

You run your typical 4 runs on Saturday, then do another 4 runs on a different course at the same location on Sunday. They then take your fastest time from Saturday and add it to your fastest time on Sunday and that is your total time. So you get a total of 8 runs over the weekend.

The driver with the fastest total two-day combined time in each class is the winner with trophies and points for the top places in each class.

There's also usually either a cook-out or party on Friday night and another party after the event on Saturdayy night. Definitely a good time to be had with a weekend of action packed competition and partying afterwards.

I attended 2 years ago and had a blast.

 

Can't make this one. I'll be at the BMW#3. $90 is a little steep for me right now. I have to spread out my events and try to hit the 8 run ones for now to get as much seat time as possible. I can't wait for the wife to be back at work so I an have some money again!!!! Good luck guys! Sounds like a awesome event!

Is this one in the same bus lot?? The wife and I might swing by Sunday with the baby to watch for a little bit. She needs to get out of the house.

 

Jose, if you are open, I'd love to co-drive your car at the event. I don't have any street tires for my car. Any contingency won would go to the car.

 

If I could acquire a set of star specs between now and then, I'd be up for letting you co-drive my car. Or, better yet, put them on your car and completely dominate the field!
