I'm not trying to pick a fight and didn't really expect this to turn in to an exchange.

As for SCCA, I'm registered for the divisional. Hopefully I'll do well but I'm not afraid of losing to a better car or better driver within my class. At least I know my competition won't be a 600 HP gutted out lightweight monster.

In theory I agree with you but in reality looking at the results it's often a stock or ST car winning class 2 or Y not a XP 600 hp gutted Evo or STi. The top 5 tends to be a good mix of all sorts or cars that belong to a wide range of scca classes within a few tenths of each other, just look at the results from the last S2000 event.

A well prepped STX car beat a well prepped STU car, a SM2 Miata was separated by only .4 with a fast STU Evo X and a $70,000 SS Cayman S ended up in 8th only .8 ahead of a nearly stock wrong wheel drive Mini Cooper S. The top 5 were separated by less than 1.5 seconds. In the end the classing structure works itself out to award the person that drove the best that day the win.

In my 6 years of racing with BMWCCA and S2000 I can't remember a single time when someone brought a cherry picking 600 hp car that completely outclassed the field (and a 600 hp car probably wouldn't run on street tires anyway). People have brought some nice hardware such as an Ariel Atom, V6 Brunton Stalker, Mercedes Black Series, etc and they all got spanked in Z class and did not win FTD so I don't think you have a valid complaint.

Besides if you made classing strict you would end up with 3-4 people in each class at an event with 40-50 people and too many classes to organize work assignments etc.

We can meet up in The Colony, maybe at your wife's old work place near Target?

Word.

Let's meet at the Chic fil a on Hulen Street in Ft Worth then at 6:45. That will give us a bit to eat. It looks like tech inspection is at 8, so we can arrive around 7:45ish I guess to register. I know, I know it's early. I'd like to get as much time as possible to study the course.

What ya think?

You should be fine if you arrive at 8. I usually get there at 8, take 30 mins to change tires/setup the car and still have plenty of time to sign in, walk the course. 7:45 is a bit early if you don't have to change wheels, IMO.

That location is about a one hour drive to MW. I don't see there being time to really eat or do anything at all, if we left at 6:45 it would be nearly 8am before we arrived at MW. I think I am just going to drive on through and maybe eat in MW. MW is a 2 hour drive for me so I am already leaving my house by 5:45 and it is an hour drive to that Chick-fil-a. I am going to arrive at MW around 7:30-7:45am, I like being early as well.

Most of the Miata guys meet at a McDonalds off 20 before MW meets. Watch the thread on dfwmiata.

SiliconTek, unless you drive like gramma its not 2 hours.

Ok, thanks. I will be on my street tires, so no need.

We can meet earlier if y'all want. I just want to be there between 7:45 and 8. Plus it's chick fil a...haha we don't have to sit down or anything, just grab a biscuit and go. I was just looking for a solid meeting place directly off 30 since that seems like a common spot for the three of us. That, and Chick fil a is delicious.

goofy: I live off of 30 in Dallas so it doesn't make sense to drive down to 20 unless it's farther west. I will have to check that out though, thanks.

Just in case any of you have heard horror stories about MW and tire wear, here is what a new set of Star Spec's look like after 10 laps at MW, 5 laps at Lone Star Park, and 11 laps at TMW Bus Lot...

As you can see, it is wear, but not terrible at all. (Both driver side tires)
