Come watch the AMS Time attack car!!
I guess I don't understand how AMS could spend so much on getting the car ready and then go cheap on the tires. From my autocross experience, you always get the best tire you can and then upgrade the rest of the car. I would think the Yoko Neuvo or RE-01R would be much better for the money. Heck, even the Hankook RS-2 would be better than the MX and cost less probably.

Mother nature decided to dry the track off for us.
This is going to be down to the wire again this year.

Jon reply to the same question
"Tires: yea. Cheap. Yoko Advans were $1,700 shipped WITH a One Lap discount, the Kumhos were $900 or so with discount. We know we are going to give up a little in the wet, but in the dry they will be good. "

This narrows it down to possibly 2 tires other than the MX's, Yoko Neova AD07 or BFG G-Force T/A KD.

I have no idea at this point.
in regards to the tires, seems people have a lot of questions.
To compete in the one lap of america event you have to purchase tires from tire rack. There are only certain tire models available to you. They are actually stamped on the sidewall "OLA06"
We chose the MX's because they had a good dry rating and were fairly inexpensive. We have nobody to blame but ourselves for not getting reviews on wet traction. It could very well cost us a 1st place class finish in this event. If you take away the wet skidpad and this mornings run we are sitting very comfortably in first. We know this but there is nothing we can do about it. once your tires are chosen you are required to run them the remainder of the event.

Yeah i know the feeling i heard great things about the MX's in the dry, but in the wet nothing, so i ASSUMED they were pretty decent in the wet... wrong.
