Welcome AWD Lancer Members.
It is coming out at the end of this year (2011) as a 2012 model. A few folks in New England have already inquired or put down a deposit on one.
I love my EVO, but if I was in the market for an AWD sedan (not rally related) I would MUCH, MUCH so much prefer an AWD Lancer SE over an Impreza, sx4, etc.

Bad news guys...
EDIT: For those of us hoping for a stickshift, it's been confirmed that the AWD lancer only comes in AUTO.... <--- NOT stick O_o
but thats not the surprising part...
Every lancer in the lineup gets the CVT : / mitsu is no longer manufacturing lancers with a 5 speed option. The Evo GSR will be the only car in the lineup to have a single-clutch tranny.
I was JUST falling in love with my 5-speed....wtf do I do now? I wanted to trade up for either the AWD or a GTS. guess I'll have to find a used one : /
My sources: Manager at my local mitsu dealership.... I decided to verify his information. Since I don't trust a sales manager after you tell him "I only want a Stick-shift" and he says "well they aren't making any more sticks for the 2012's"
I've been watching mitsubishi Japan's website for a month now...well it finally updated. It has the Exceed (ES) the Super Exceed (SE) and the ralliart/sportback models. The SE has Awd (2 wheel, 4 wheel, lock) so thats confirmed. but accross the line all the cars are only offered with the cvt or the 6 speed cvt. None of them have 5 speed options....before the site updated I Did see the 4wd model but for the exceed I remember there being a 5 speed option....
of corse it could be different for us Americans/Canadians (GAWD I hope so) but I have no reason not to trust the dealership .... <.< right?

^^HOPE SO...or a ton of people r going to be quite dissapointed...
seing as how american companies barely dabble at all in sticks anymore xept the bare bones base low end models...or the ocassional sport(y) car(mustangs, corvette, challenger...etc)
leaves us stick lovers to go to other companies...and even then theres not many that offer them either..rarely on anything over the midsizes anymore...

mkay....i didnt see in the pic posted...the SE is only available cvt...tho the other models are available w/ a stick...o well...
....im sure they can come up w/ a turbo kit soon enough if anybody wants one...tho isnt the motor just the same as a RA anyway tho(xept even less performance oriented)?

you might want to wait until the lancer actually comes out and people post their opinions. better yet when a magazine does a comparison between it and the 2012 impreza, which by the way is a pretty decent looking car, not to mention insane mpg rating of 36

I must say the car in 2WD gets similar mpg to my previous 5sp manual ES in city driving. The SE seems to handle corners better, and obviously in the snow/rain accelerates much better. I would spin the tires easily with the ES, but it also lacked Traction Control.
I'd like to see it compared to the Impreza as I see it being a good competition.
