Question Lowered Lancer + 30 cm of Snow = ???

Hi all,
i'm currently debating on whether or not if i should be lowering my 03 LS lancer with lowering springs (not the pricey coilovers). My main concern is about the performance in winter-driving... THICK SNOW.

I've heard stories about the deterioration of handling after the lowering in winter, so i'm wondering if you guys can provide me with some of your personal experiences on the handling and the before-and-after effect of your lowered rides in winter-driving.

Also, for those of you who know alot more about our lancers, does anyone know if the LS model requires the upper perches when i lower my ride? I know the OZ model have these perches, and the ES requires them when they lower their rides.

Thanks for your input,
Don

I wouldn't lower the car if I were you, not without the ability to raise it up again anyways. Save your money and get some coilovers when you can. If your still going to do it, I don't think you require new perches, not sure but I think your the same as the OZ's.

get new springs in the spring, and put your old ones back on for the winter (or buy new stock ones for the winter). getting springs changed isnt very expensive.

Theres also the problem of blowing out your stock shocks, which would make winter driving a real pain in the ***, even with stock springs back on.

I've been riding on my Progress spring for over 8 months, including 2 months of snow. so far so good. You're only 1.5 inch closer to the ground. It's not like if you were slamming it all the way down. I say go for it... but as said above, be prepared to change your stock struts before next winter. Stock struts are weak. How do I know? My struts were bleading even before I slapped on my lowering springs. Now I gotta find a strut manufacturer.

As far as perches are concerned, you don't need them, but they are recommanded.

The enclosue it-self is finished. It's been about 4 months since I touched it, so I still have an @ss load of finition work to do (sanding, preping, sanding, primer, sanding, primer, sanding, paint ) I'm already tired of looking at that setup, so I'm looking into something different (2 X 10" instead of 1 X 12 )
