Ugly brake calipers
Ugly brake calipers
I posted before about my rust problem on all my brake callipers after the winter.
It just look very bad so I went to the dealership and ask what they could do about it. They said there's nothing they could do and if they paint them for me it will cost me a few hundred bucks. Also, they said it won't last long as well, after the next winter the paint will probably come off. Is this true? Has anyone paint their calipers and how long will it last in this canadian weather? Anyone has the same problem like me?

most of us don't really care what the brake callipers look like...
but if it really bothers you go to canadian tire and buy paint for it...
theres kits for it that are pretty inexpensive...
and its not that hard to do...
I just find it pointless to do...

Ive never seen the lancer calipers rust, and trust me, my car HAS seen the elements. The rear drums on the other hand do rust...and ofter. I paint mine about once a year and at the end of each winter I do it again.
1. Take the drum off
2. Use a wire wheel to remove the rust from the outside of the drum
3. Mask off the parts of the drum you dont want to paint. ie. The inside, where it bolts to your wheel.
4. Get some High temp caliper paint or do what I do and use BBQ paint. Flat black looks best hands down.
5. Let it dry for the apropiate time and do at least one other coat.
Re-install and your done with a total cost of about $10.00 (including the wire brush attachment for a drill)
*Note make sure your parking brake is OFF before you try and take the drums off.

Edit, I just realised you have a ralliart and there for dont have drums. My bad. I guess you can still follow the above for calipers, but like I said before, Ive never seen em rust.
