Let me stir up the pot a little more........the Evolution pulled into a motorsports/racing business, around back and into a garage.....where *shock* another evolution was sitting.....

the 2nd evolution wasn't the same model style as the first.....continue the speculation!

Hey all.. Say someone got a US Evo and possibly installed a top mounted intercooler, could that possibly pass the front collision test? At that price range, they might actually demonstrate that the front impact would only damage the bumper, and then install some body kit..

Am I talking complete nonsense here? Please, someone, reality check!!

I think theres more of a problem with the front bumper than the intercooler, although I'm sure the insurance company hates the evo either way.

it's not the intercooler that is the problem per say. the problem is in the front re-bar behind the bumper cover. the us has a 3mph crash test rating while the CDN has a 5mph rating. since the evo has a small re-bar it only passes the 3mph test and doesn't pass the 5. the intercooler getting wrecked in the process is a result in having a tiny re-bar

What irks me is why we have KMH speed limits in Canada, yet have MPH safety standards. Like ****, 3 mph is like 8 km/h.....5 mph is like 12......most low-speed accidents happen at 10 or below, so why isn't 3 mph enough?

Aside from that why didn't mitsubishi make a stronger re-bar......cuz there stupid and cheap, just like they're paint....

Meh I don't know why the standards even exist......if I was in an Evolution 8 and hit someone I'd almost guarentee it'd be in the triple digits and close to double the speed limit. 3mph bumpers wouldn't matter.

yeah no kidding. with the speeds usually driven on the highways and whatnot, a 3/5/20 mph crash bar isn't going to help much

I just read an article in "Québec Tuning" on the Evo and the guy who wrote the article got one to test drive over here, but he had to pick it up in Toronto. So may be its the one.
