what does knock for? what does it do?

i know your motor makes knocking noise when its almost blown off. :P
In a nutshell, knock is when conditions in the cylinder becomes to hot and the air/fuel mixture detonates on it's own before the compression stroke is complete. Also refered to as detonation, or "leaning out". Too much boost is the major cause of knock. This is why the higher the octane we can get our hands on, the better. The higher the octane, the less likely it is to detonate before it's lit. Not a dumb question at all, the majority of people have no real idea of the intricate relationship between knock and octane.

Yup those are the Defi BF gauges I had left over from when i parted out my old turbo RSX.

Good to hear Vince. Actually i was scrolling back a few pages, and saw the pics you posted. Damn white looks so nice. Too bad i wasn't able to find a good clean white MR when I was looking for the right price. Enjoy the car man!
